Nescac 10 - 11

Re: Nescac 10 - 11

Grace Dickinson was the Hotchkiss goalie now at Colby
Annie Papadellis, Middlesex and Assabet Red U19
Sylvia Xistris, Loomis and Mid Fairfield U19

A few others. Will be a totally different season and a different look.

This will certainly be a different season and I wish Coach Venditti and the Mules (and your daughter) well. This season's squad returns some dangerous snipers, but the '09-'10 Mule goalies faced more shots (859) than any NESCAC team other than Wesleyan. It will be asking a lot of first year goalies to carry the team past Amherst, Middlebury, Bowdoin, Trinity and Hamilton in '10-'11 without a big up-grade in blueline play.

I've always fancied myself as more of a facilitator. Besides, I'm waiting for Phil D. Stands to chime in....he's way more entertaining than I.
OK, Hampster -- it's your turn -- prognosticate please...delight us with divinations, amaze us with augurings, bemuse us with boosterisms, or just flip us some wooden nickels, sell us some "pigs in a poke"-checks, rope us a few bum steers, talk boldly through your hat tricks, and inflate our hopes and fears for the coming ice age....

...only the sound of crickets...must still be summer...at least they're:) chirping

Re: Nescac 10 - 11

1. Amherst- until proven otherwise
2. Middlebury- strong fighters, still young, will prove a lot.
3. Hamilton- Returning Miguel and solid goaltending
4. Trinity
5. Bowdoin
6. Conn College
7. Colby
8. Williams
9. Wesleyan

Re: Nescac 10 - 11

Hamilton at 3, eh? I like it...not sure i agree but i like it and i hope there is some more parody at the top.

There will be some interesting matchups in the NESCAC before Christmas. Amherst will visit Triniity twice in early December, but Hamilton will have hosted Midd and visited both Trinity and Bowdoin before the break. Midd will get a shot at avenging their late season loss to the Polar Bears up at Kenyon. It is a long season and very little is decided in the NESCAC before mid February, but we should have a glimmer as to who are the pretenders and who maybe poised to move up in the standings with these early season results.

Re: Nescac 10 - 11

Contrary to my prior message, I'm adding my .02 to the pre-season poll for two reasons: 1.) just because 2.) to bring the thread back up to a relevant position.

1. Amherst- 2 time defending National Champ
2. Middlebury - very hungry
3. Bowdoin - they will build on their success from last year and the new coach will get them over the hump.
4. Trinity - still tough, but will have to prove themselves with a new goalie
5. Hamilton - great goaltending will keep them in many contests.
6. Conn College - I'm unsure....
7. Colby - still building
8. Williams - I wish them luck, but I'm not sure they'll be able to overcome the loss of their coach.
9. Wesleyan - their young goaltender will keep them in many games, but it won't be enough.

Re: Nescac 10 - 11

Captain's practices started this week: Anyone hearing anything from any of the camps?

Re: Nescac 10 - 11

I've actually heard of some teams/players violating the captian's practice's rules. Have my lawyer looking into NCAA guidelines/rules on this one.

Re: Nescac 10 - 11

One week and counting....still wondering if anyone has heard anything from the captain's practices.

Re: Nescac 10 - 11

I heard Amherst's DI transfer "looks like a DI transfer" and they have added a couple of "snipers."

Re: Nescac 10 - 11

I've heard that Midd's new prospects are all strong and ready to contribute from Day 1 with a good distribution of goaltending, defense and forwards. Bodes well for a team that lost just a few players who were spread over those same positions. There should be no holes and more depth overall.
