NDSU Bison

Re: NDSU Bison

Defense held the Jacks to -4 yards rushing. 2nd game in a row where the defense held the opposing team to -4 rushing. This game was never in doubt after the Bison scored on it's opening drive. Bring on UNI.

After the SDSU game, here is where the Bison are ranked in a few statistical categories in the FCS.

3rd Down Conversion % Defense (1) - 18.6%

3rd Down Conversion % (7) - 52.3%

Total First Downs Defense (2) - 48

Passes Had Intercepted (1) - 0

Rushing Defense (1) - 40.8

Passing Efficiency (7) - 164.52

Time of Possession (1) - 37:45

Total Defense (4) - 262.3

Breaking: ESPN Sports Center coming to Fargo

Get ready, Bison Nation! The worldwide sports leader, ESPN, is once again visiting Fargo and NDSU.

ESPN will broadcast from Fargo for the third straight year when "SportsCenter on the Road" visits for a live show Saturday airing 6-8 a.m. CDT from Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome in advance of North Dakota State's homecoming game with Northern Iowa.

Anchors Matt Barrie and Sara Walsh will host the telecast, which will include highlights and analysis of Friday night's sports and a look ahead to the weekend's key matchups. The show will also have interviews and segments regarding NDSU, its football program and student-athletes.

The event is free and open to the public Saturday morning. Details for parking, tailgating and stadium entrance will be announced Monday.

The SportsCenter on the Road bus will arrive in Fargo on Thursday and SportsCenter will air a live segment Friday from Fargo during the 5 p.m. show.

Re: NDSU Bison

The MVC should petition the NCAA to collectively move up to FBS as a conference.

Stadiums would be a major issue for most of those schools. Off the top of my head, 3 of them play in a dome stadium that would be pretty hard to expand. To be a low end D1-A program, you would probably want seating to at least over 20,000, more likely up to 25,000. And from a quick look at Wikipedia puts only one school at over 20,000. Could be done, and I bet Iowa State, Kansas, and Kansas State would like that idea if nothing more than giving them all an option to jump to if the Big XII ever blows up. Its just that a whole lot more work would need to happen first. Maybe in 10 years it would be a better idea.

Re: NDSU Bison

Game for the ages yesterday at the FargoDome. Bison down 28-24 with 2 minutes to go with no timeouts and facing a 3rd and 20 from their own 10. Converted on 2 fourth down plays on their way to the end zone with 35 seconds to go and beat UNI 31-28. The dome was rocking. Wentz finished going 26-40 for 335 yards and 4 touchdowns and 2 picks.

Wentz Named Valley Football Offensive Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS - North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week by the league office Sunday, Oct. 11, after passing for four touchdowns in a 31-28 come-from-behind victory over Northern Iowa.

Wentz, a senior from Bismarck, N.D., led the Bison on a 10-play, 79-yard drive in less than two minutes caped by an 18-yard touchdown pass to Darrius Shepherd with 35 seconds left. He completed 6 of 10 passes on the winning drive including a 14-yarder to Zach Vraa and a 23-yarder to RJ Urzendowski both on fourth down.

Wentz connected with 11 different receivers and finished 26 of 40 (both career highs) for 335 yards, the fifth most passing yards in NDSU history. He set a school record attempting 143 consecutive passes without an interception, and his 40 attempts against UNI were the most by a Bison quarterback since 2009.

Todd McShay, Scouts Inc.

Here, we'll look at which players have moved up and down our Top 32, drawing on the same scouting reports as before and making changes only where necessary.

We'll continue to update our board as we get closer to the 2016 NFL draft. While it's a given that some players will move into the rankings while others will drop out, this provides a good snapshot of which players currently have the most NFL potential based on our evaluations.

29. Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State Bison

Previous ranking: NR

Wentz has gone 19-2 in his season-plus as the Bisons' starter. I've been impressed with his accuracy this season (64.9 completion rate and only 2 INTs), and his mobility will be an asset at the next level. But he needs to develop his lower-body mechanics to become more precise when throwing from an off-balance platform.

Re: NDSU Bison

USD with the huge upset today. Did not see that coming. Wentz and the team had obviously a sub par performance. Need to bounce back next week or the dynasty could be over. 26 home win streak done.

Carson Wentz is out for 6 weeks with a broken wrist. Happened during the game but thought it was just sprained. Easton Stick to take his place at Indiana St Saturday. Unless the Bison make the playoffs Carson may have played his last game for NDSU. Not a happy camper obviously. I pray it heals back to normal as he has a future in the game beyond college.

A few first batch Senior Bowl invites I’ve heard: QB Carson Wentz, RB Devontae Booker and C Jack Allen.

Re: NDSU Bison

Does your nephew know that you're working as the USCHO PR arm of his draft team? I only ask because I know some hockey players have had family on this board in the past and asked them to stop posting their accolades.

It is kind of amusing that the game result updates have disappeared now that Wentz is done for the season. Who knew that the "Bison" in the thread title was singular.

I posted their loss and they won their next 2. My bad. Western Illinois at home Saturday. Easton Stick is going to be a dam good QB for the Bison the next 3 years. Kid can run. If the Bison win out they should be top 4 in the FCS which would mean a possible 3 home playoff games as long as they keep winning. Long ways to go before any of that happens obviously.

Re: NDSU Bison

I nearly posted several days ago that it is kind of weird, though maybe a little endearing, to see a guy come to this site to talk to himself about his own nephew. But icehawk seems like a nice guy. Proud papa syndrome.
