Bronco Hockey Fan, S11R9Seat8, and TalonsUpPuckDown tied for the weekly honors with 17 points. Miami is back to playing this week so Sweeney is conflicted.

Re: NCHC Pick 'Em 2019-2020

BONUS QUESTION FOR WEEK 8:

What will be the longest gap between two goals in a game this weekend?

Anything up to 30 seconds later will be rounded down to 0 minutes, and 31 seconds (or 30.1 if in final minute) will be rounded up to 1. Only the official 65-minutes counts.

10 pts if dead-on. Minus 1 for every one off either way. Can't go negative.

I'll say 34.

This is a good one! Since 5 people are already in and may not re-read the thread, how 'bout we do this for week 9?

Re: NCHC Pick 'Em 2019-2020

Thanks, Talons! Make it Week 10, though. Week 9 is Thanksgiving and only two teams play, I think.

I have another one, which also requires delayed scoring.

BONUS QUESTION FOR WEEK 9

Which NCHC team will score the most goals in a single game this season? (Will there be another 11-7 game?) 5 pts, all or nothing. 1 in 8 chance.

Extra bonus question for correctly guessing how many goals it will be. 2 pts, minus 1 for every one off. No negative. Regular season conference games only. At the present, it's North Dakota with 7 (vs. Miami).

Directly inspired by that 12-0 can of whoop *** AIC opened on Mercyhurst the other night.

Re: NCHC Pick 'Em 2019-2020

Are we supposed to answer these bonus questions in the thread or in the pick-em because I already made my picks and I didn't see the bonus questions.

What's the deadline for making the pick about the most goals scored by an NCHC team during the season?

Finally, with respect to the question about the time between goals, I assume it's between any two goals during that game, and not by just one team? I assume if there is just one goal in a game, then there isn't a qualifying time for that game? Are those both true?

You're good for this week, nothing further to do.

I'll add the bonus question(s) to the entry form in upcoming weeks. I'll let BHF answer your questions about the time between goals.

Re: NCHC Pick 'Em 2019-2020

Yeah, any two goals period, regardless of who scores. Just going by one team is indeed an interesting way to add two more bonuses. I know Talons regularly has bonuses pertaining to that on the WCHA board (i.e. how many goals scored by just the away teams, etc.).

And yeah, a 1-0 game obviously wouldn't have a qualifying time because there's only one goal.

Re: NCHC Pick 'Em 2019-2020

The rich get richer. Sioufaninseattle won the week with 19 points.

BroncoHockeyFan's bonus questions for team scoring the most goals in a single game (from here on out...) along with the number of goals scored is added for week 9.

Re: NCHC Pick 'Em 2019-2020

gochiefs and TalonsUpPuckDown won the week with 12 out of a possible 18 points. How'd we do it you ask? Well, only one player correctly picked Mankato's sweep of Duluth...moi. gochiefs was the only player to correctly pick UConn to sweep Miami.

BroncoHockeyFan's time-between-goals bonus question is up for this week. Post any questions, BHF will answer. As a reminder, if you want to change any picks just submit a new form. I take the latest timestamped entry.

Re: NCHC Pick 'Em 2019-2020

I meant to provide more detail on the bonus results but forgot. Here's the calculation results.

On Friday night, ASU's Johnny Walker scored his 8th goal of the season at the 15:53 mark of the first period. Denver's Jaakko Heikkinen scored the next goal of the game at the 10:34 mark of the 3rd period for a time gap of 34:41 which was rounded up to 35 minutes. Nothing was even close to that on Saturday.

Wait, did my picks not go through this week? Because I should have been 3-1 this time around...

I thought it was odd that you posted entries in the WCHA pick 'em but not the NCHC. Below is the list of entries for week 11 (also available at this link View response details and View response summaries which keeps an internal count of who submitted so there's a correlation between what's here and what's on the detailed sheet (meaning I can't delete someone's entry on the detail as it will still show on the summary)):

There have been situations in the past where contestants fill out the form then mistakenly forget to click the submit button. Not saying that's the case here, but given that we have 7 entries over 4 days I don't think it's a bug in Google Forms or Sheets.

I'll let you figure out the ruling on this one. Link to the entry form if you want to resubmit: Week 11 picks

Re: NCHC Pick 'Em 2019-2020

If a player can prove they made picks before game time via another medium (which I can via Twitter if necessary), I say give it to them.

Rationale: The Atlantic Hockey guy let me do that when my account registration took a couple days longer than anticipated to process at the start of last year. And something about one of the WCHA contestants submitting via email to you last week.

But I went back and filled it out for good measure, just to be sure my picks for ASU-UNO are in as well.

I remember Mar doing that. I'm good with it and assume everyone else is good so ship 'em over. Besides, you're the commissioner here, not me! The WCHA guy posted his screen name twice instead of one with his kid's name. The entries were timestamped prior to the start of play so that was pretty easy.

There are only 8 of us playing and we're all here to have a little fun, not get worked up over rules. As I mentioned above, I'm good with putting your entries in for the full week on the honor system. If anyone objects, feel free to do so here and we can debate.

I don't know the OT rules for the Mariucci or Ledyard Bank Classics so we'll do those as a regular 65 minute NCAA OOC game. Ties are in play.
