NCHA: Still the Unquestioned Best Conference?

Re: NCHA: Still the Unquestioned Best Conference?

Heard that this may happen, with a selected NCHA team, as early as next season:D :D

....just havin' a little fun Pete.....bored !! :D

Actually I recall reading a discussion last year that Stevens Point were the only team receptive to scheduling a N/C game in 2010-11 ??? It's going to happen sooner or later......hopefully in March 2010.

Now that the MCHA has the AQ I expect NCHA teams will start to consider Adrian for N/C games. It's a shame it's taking this long. I'm sure fans on both sides want the games and I'll bet the players do too. Good competition should be what it's all about, and unfortunately the system got in the way.

Not bored, just snowed in this morning:) :)
Looking forward to Adrian facing a NCHA team in the NCAA's in March...
Upcoming games vs Hamline and Oswego should give some indication on how strong the Bulldog squad is this season...

Re: NCHA: Still the Unquestioned Best Conference?

Not confirmed by TWO sources yet:)

My guess is it might be hard for Stevens Point because two of their non-conference games are going to the Oswego Pathfinder tournament next year?

St. Norbert or Superior?

I am still trying to confirm which team from a 2nd source..

Re: NCHA: Still the Unquestioned Best Conference?

Aren't CSS, SNC, and Lawrence committed to a third year of the Western Showcase (@ Lawrence) with an Eastern School TBD as the 4th team? If so, then we rule out the Green Knights??????

Yes, they are in that tourney, which also makes it doubtful that it will be CSS, unless they replace their annual Northland game with Adrian. Could happen, but I don't see why anyone but Adrian would ever want to replace a Northland game.

The field's already been announced? Who else is gonna be in it and when/where did you find it?

They usually announce the following year's Oswego Blueline Tournament field at the end of the current tournament.

Thus, they must know by now who is going to be it for next year. If you know the right people, you can get that information before the announcement. I haven't bothered asking, though I'm sure I could find out. I do know, starting next year, the tournament will move back to the last weekend in December, now that the calendar is more receptive to that weekend.

That will last for 3 years or so, and then it will have to switch because the calendar will then not be so receptive again. There's a 5-6 year cycle there, depending on how many leap years there are, and the fact that dates move by one day in an non-leap year and two days in a leap year. The reason is 365 is congruent to 1 mod 7 and 366 is congruent to 2 mod 7. :D

I found out/announced this year's field when I heard who was coming from taking coach Gosek's class fall semester last year.

I'm sure the rest of the field is finalized just like you said. The only team i know for sure is Stevens Point. I haven't heard who the other two are. But I havent really tried asking anyone yet either.

But yes, you're right. The last three years of the tournament they announced the field for the following year's tournament at the end during the all-tournament announcement. I dont think it's a very big secret or anything at this point.

Thank God you're a professor. I never could have figured that out. :D

Re: NCHA: Still the Unquestioned Best Conference?

So going into last weekend UWS was in the top 10 and now they droped down to #12, SNC droped down to #5. With this weekend coming up UWS is at CSS (Huge game in the conference) and SNC does not play until Jan. 8th when they play at Concordia (MN). So while SNC is on "idle" for just over a month the rest of the conference has a chance to catch up to them. From now until the second half of the season begins, its going to be pretty interesting in the NCHA before break.

-GO JACKETS!!

The whole NCHA is a topsy turvy mix. Not really unexpected. With the loss of LF and the new scheduling system leading to less powder puff MCHA sqauds and one less weekend of MIAC I like to think everyone would have seen this coming.
