NCHA 2009-2010 Second Half Thread

Re: NCHA 2009-2010 Second Half Thread

NCHA Standing's as of 1/17/10

1. St. Norbert (13-3-1) 16 PTS
2. UW-Stout (8-7-3) 15 PTS
3. St. Scholastica (11-3-3) 13 PTS
4. UW-River Falls (10-5-2) 10 PTS
5. UW-Eau Claire (6-8-3) 7 PTS
6. UW-Stevens Point (8-8-1) 6 PTS
7. UW-Superior (8-7-2) 5 PTS

Well, you are partially correct!

NCHA Standings are:

GP W-L-T Pts.
1. SNC 10 8-2-0 16
2. Stout 12 6-3-3 15
3. St. Sch. 10 5-2-3 13
4. River Falls 10 4-4-2 10
5. Eau Clr. 10 2-5-3 7
6. Point 10 3-7-0 6
7. UW Soup 10 2-7-1 5

I think that you mixed up overall records with NCHA records. Additionally, please note that Stout has played two additional games to date.

Re: NCHA 2009-2010 Second Half Thread

TBB's last sentence is of major importance. Stout has really turned things around after a poor start, but they aren't in as good of shape as the standings suggest without taking their 2 extra games into account.

True but I think this weekend shows how unpredictable the NCHA is. Any team can win on any given night and come tournament time the conference tournament will be very fun to watch. It will be very interesting to see who wins and gets the autobid

There's a score update thread you might want to post these in :)

Ok how some predictions for 1st round of playoffs this week?
Does it look like obvious winners or are most of the teams so close anyone can win one game BUT can they win two?

Re: NCHA 2009-2010 Second Half Thread

For what it's worth, here's my take:

1 SNC v. 1st Round Bye

SNC has taken care of strong competition with some consistency--they should have no problem advancing to the semifinals against a notoriously weak opponent.

2 CSS v. 7 UWS

Not much to say here. CSS faltered last weekend, but the extra day off should benefit, and my boys should advance with a sweep.

3 UWRF v. 6 UWEC

The Blugolds have been known to win big games-against SNC and CSS-but are typically inconsistent and I think the Falcons move on with a home sweep.

4 UW Stout v. 5 UW Stevens Point

This is an interesting matchup. Statistically they are very close. At first glance, I said Stevens Point. Then, I thought Stout's PP might take advantage of the Pointers' 20 PIM game average. Then, I looked at UWSP's 4-0 victory over the stumbling Blue Devils, and I give the nod to the Pointers to take it in the minigame.

I have to agree with you, seems like Stout is down and Pointers could take advantage of that but when playoffs start that could change things.

I am with you Satnts will make it just not Superiors year.

Now River Falls is a different story it depends on what team shows up. If they take penalties then they could lose one game but not two. You never know if Falcons are ready to play and bring their A game. Some players seem to play consistently each game and play hard but others don`t. You can`t seem to count them out because when you do they come back and score 5 goals. This Saturday you would think they would challenge the Knights since they have done so well on the road and never won @ Norbert, give Freeman a win but they played lack luster without hustle from all players. If I was Freeman I would have shortened the bench on some of the forwards. Not sure if falcons have an advantage playing at home beings that they have done so well on the raod but their home loses were in most part to good teams. The young players maybe the reason for Falcons ups and downs
