NCAA West Regional Semifinal: 2# Minnesota vs 3# Boston University

Re: NCAA West Regional Semifinal: 2# Minnesota vs 3# Boston University

If memory serves, Marshall was simply called for elbowing and not for contact to the head. That distinction is very important.

End of 2 periods of play, 4-2 MN. BU took an additional penalty out of the fisticuffs.

Note: roughing penalties were off-setting. It appears that BU took the original penalty (for holding) prior to the pushing and shoving post-whistle.

No other penalties were announced, so he may have just headed to the locker room given that there was only 5 seconds left in the period.

Geez, it looks like BU still has some players on the team bench rather than in the penalty box. I'm sure the officials will take care of that when the third period begins. ;)

Hopefully they can get back to playing Hockey in the 3rd.

The last time the Gophers took a 2 goal lead in to the third period they ....

Courtnall is an idiot...doesn't he wear an "A"? Nice leadership.

Re: NCAA West Regional Semifinal: 2# Minnesota vs 3# Boston University

Gophers need to put their foot on the gas pedal all the way to the floor. No need to let BU feel good about themselves and let them back in the game. Turn last week into a positive by learning what happens when you quit. Bury your opponent or risk another melt down.

Watched the replay, Courtnall didn't even get his money's worth, completely whiffing on his elbow.

Guess in this game, if you actually make contact, you only get two minutes. But if you miss, you're out of the game.

Why was Courtnall swinging his elbow at a guys head? That's what I'm wondering. Refs blow calls all the time, why give them an excuse?

lol, I love seeing TBA around again. Still crying about the refs and being wrong about it.

He clearly went at the head and I imagine live it looked like he made contact. Not one of us watching didn't think he made contact until they slowed it down after the period ended.

6 for bu isn't gone, just got 2. Courtnall never connected, but great job by gopher player to sell it. Surprised he didn't fall to the ice til the whistle blew. Marshall deserved the same. Announcers made a good point about checking replay before calling a major in NCAA. Courtnall never would have been tossed.

Yeah the players know these refs are calling everything why give them the chance.

Dude, he still should have been ejected. It's a moronic attempt at an elbow in a game you're down a goal in and you're the assistant captain. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it, just making fun of the refs because he missed and got five minutes for intent where Marshall made full contact with a very dirty hit, and got two minutes for something he would have gotten a multi-game suspension in the NHL for.

Marshall is a flat out dirty player, he started the whole scrum when it was just Escobedo and Rau too, up two goals and about to get a PP, why would you do anything there?
