Re: NCAA Semifinal, Wisconsin versus Colgate

Congrats to Colgate on the win and to Wisconsin on the great season you had.

Re: NCAA Semifinal, Wisconsin versus Colgate

Well, Good. Congratulations to Colgate.

I think this is better for the game of Women's Hockey.

It was looking none too good for Colgate...looked like UW was superior in the conditioning department (among other things) and Colgate was having lots of problems since the third period getting control of the puck in their own end, never mind breaking out. And their power play was terrible...I think UW had more possession time than Colgate during Colgate's PP's!

Victory does not always go to the...and all of that.

No quit in Colgate...and a hat trick in a FF Semi Final is amazing!!!

Two great games.

Lots of empty seats as usual...disappointing.

Can Colgate overcome the physical disadvantage that they have relative to CU after having played the later game and a longer game than CU played?

Guess we'll find out Sunday.

Any time you have a double header like this, you're going to have lots of empty seats, because fans are only coming to watch their team. Wisconsin, Colgate, and Clarkson all had fan events at nearby bars during the opposing games (maybe OSU did too, but I didn't see any details on them). You'll see the same thing at the Mens Frozen Four in a few weeks, you see the same thing this weekend at the bouncy ball games.

I thought the crowds were quite good, all things considered, although with Wisconsin out, I'm guessing there will be a lot of unscanned tickets at the final.

Re: NCAA Semifinal, Wisconsin versus Colgate

The arena was full during the overtime of the OSU/Clarkson game, as the Wisconsin and Colgate fans arrived before those of the first game left. People keep making the same basic mistake of judging a two game package based upon what they see during just one game. That's dumb.

Re: NCAA Semifinal, Wisconsin versus Colgate

And yet Colgate was 3/4 on their PP. How did Wisco do on theirs?! Remember, it's not how. It's how many!

Yeah, I know. As entertaining as the game was some things about it seemed to make no sense.

Agree with Blackbeard....."I think this is better for the game of Women's Hockey.

3 years ago, all we heard in the East was about the dominance of western hockey.......which was true at that time......but now in just 3 short years, the ECAC has some depth to offer competitive games during the regular season that get them ready for the playoffs.......hopefully soon HE will be in the game!

When UNH introduced the new men's coach, Mike Souza, much of the talk here in the Forum was about recruiting......I'd love to see a few long names with vowels in the Blue and White!! :D:p

Re: NCAA Semifinal, Wisconsin versus Colgate

You thought it was empty yesterday (which it wasn't), wait til you see it tomorrow (which it will be) :D
It was pretty packed near the end of the OSU/Clarkson game, when all of the fans from both games where there at the same time. By the end of game 2's OT 2, very few people left but diehard UW or Colgate fans.

Imagine that. Very disappointing ;)

Re: NCAA Semifinal, Wisconsin versus Colgate

Roque's pretty aggressive "minor" made we wonder when anyone in a FF has ever drawn more than 2 minutes. ??

Official announced attendance was 3,369, which is roughly Ridder's capacity.

Which is curious, considering pretty much the entire upper level was taken up by press, radio and TV broadcasters, etc.

Standing Room, I would guess. There were a lot of people around the rails.

Re: NCAA Semifinal, Wisconsin versus Colgate

What league were the ref's from for this game? Overall they allowed WAY too much physical play, then they call a mystery penalty on Steffen to give Colgate the 5 on 3.

At some point in middle of the 1st ot or in the 2nd ot, why not send the 4th line out for a shift, especially after an icing? A fresh 4th line should be at least the equal of a dead tired top 3 line.
