NCAA Semifinal: Plattsburgh vs. Norwich

Re: NCAA Semifinal: Plattsburgh vs. Norwich

I think either way, if it is Leis or Williams, It will take a team effort to beat the Cadets...Plus, either way, We can second guess Emery if the Goalie plays terribly, Right?

I'm certain he will go with one of the freshman goalies :p My guess, he sticks with the rotation and Williams starts - does will stay in, well .....

I'm hoping he picks the one less likely to hold off the Cadets :)

From my seat, I see a lot of goalie play. I saw Leis against Midd in the Primelink, and Williams against us twice. I said it before, I think Leis is the better goalie.

I'm pretty sure McShane will start Klinger :). Here's a nice piece about his career written by the Norwich PR Machine Things you may not know about him, which are pretty awesome.

They did in 2007 as well. I don't have time to look it up but I'm almost positive Raeder and Cherry each started a game.

That is correct Raeder stood on his head against Manhattanville in the semis, and I was a little disappointed when the coach kept the rotation going in a game of such magnitude with one goalie so incredibly hot, but I was not surprised either.

Re: NCAA Semifinal: Plattsburgh vs. Norwich

When looking at the Norwich/Plattsburgh matchup regular season injuries are a factor when analyzing the 2 teams. Norwich has Eric Siegel out for the year while Scott Schroeder, Pier-Oliver Cotnoir, Emmond Bell, Colin Mulvery, and Tory Allen each have been missing from various games. For Plattsburgh players I know who have been out are Eric Satim and one of there top defensmen. Norwich production suffered with these players missing and I am sure Eric Satim was missed in the second Oswego game. The primelink probable best represents how even these teams are and that game ended in a tie. Most fans I have talked too expect another close game very much like the quarterfinals between Plattsburgh/Middlebury.

Hilarious typo found at http://www.collegehockeystats.net/0910/upcoming/ecacm3e

ECAC Men's East - Upcoming Games

Friday, March 19:
* Plattsburgh vs Norwich NC 4:00 pm/ 7:30 pm
* - NCAA Division III Semifinal (Lake Placid, NY)

Saturday, March 20:
* St. Norbert vs Norwich NC 5:00 pm
* Oswego vs Norwich NC 5:00 pm
* - NCAA Division III Championship (Lake Placid, NY)

To give credit where credit is due this is a take-off on Webb's "battle royale" scenario, found on the tournament speculation thread, when we were getting to the end of our patience.

It isn't actually a typo, but a "potential future", should Norwich by some not so hilarious luck, actually come out on top Friday, they will face one of the two teams on Saturday.

Re: NCAA Semifinal: Plattsburgh vs. Norwich

In my mind, Leis gives Plattsburgh the best chance to win.

He has yet to see Norwich this year, where Klingensmith has played 120 minutes against PSU, and allowed 1 goal, and 1 PP goal.

That being said, looking at his stats, and performance vs Midd - I'd play him if he was on my team.

So - "Plattsburgh vs Norwich NC 4:00 pm/ 7:30 pm" ISN'T a typo?

At the time of posting, they had not yet posted who would play game 1 (4pm) and game 2 (7:30pm), though given the NCAA $ee$ only "what$ in for me", the 7:30 FRIDAY game will allow $ignificantly more Plattsburgh fan$ to make the 50-85 mile drive to Lake Placid, so I guess it would be hilarious to think Plattsburgh might have played the 4pm game. (Even though it has been mentioned by some, that the coach of the #1 seed would have preferred the 4pm game as to give his team more rest between games, should they win).

IMO we will see the end of the goalie rotation this weekend. #31 will get the tap on the shoulder.

The "posting" was cut and pasted directly from that site into my post. It's CURRENT. McShane would have loved to have the additional rest, should his team win Friday. If all the NCAA cared about was $$, why charge only $27 for a weekend of championship hockey? I pay almost that much to watch 3 NU home games.

I will admit, that it would be as good (fair) a time as any to pass on the hint, of who will lead the Cardinals for the next three years. I just hope we don't face Williams at Oswego next year.

It is $32 for separate tickets, with a $5 discount for those fair weather fans willing to take a chance their team wins Friday. The Herb Brooks Arena seats 10,000 people, rest assured, the NCAA penny counter$ are charging the Optimal price.

It is funny that $ signs can't be used as "s" in assured.

And isn't it telling that we're now saying that Leis is to be tapped as the #1 goalie? In the early part of the season, many Plattsburgh fans were calling for Leis' head, and declaring Williams to be the #1. I myself was a guilty party. :o And yet here we are. Says quite a bit about Emery's coaching (hint-hint) that he waited, and now it's obvious that Williams would have been a bad call.
