NCAA Rankings?

spwood

Do You Believe in Miracles? YES!!!
Sorry if this is posted elsewhere.....is this the week of the super-secret first NCAA rankings?

Re: NCAA Rankings?

Sidenote: I was playing with the NCAA mileage calculator and came up with something that surprised me: Adrian can be bussed to Oswego. Adrian can be bussed to Elmira. Adrian must be flown to Utica (548 miles institution to institution)???

Regarding Utica / Adrian, wouldn't it be the other way around because there is a high school tourney going on?

Either direction, it doesn't matter. If the distance is more than 500 miles, it won't happen. Adrian's opponent (assuming they qualify) will be one of the teams in the field within 500 miles of them. If there are none, then it will be interesting.

Re: NCAA Rankings?

I'm more concerned with making sure we get there first. Carts and horses, my friends.

Even though this may not be relevant, Remember that Utica does not play on-campus. However, it'd still be over 500 miles.

Also, I'm not sure though about the games getting over by four or five, I wish that was the case but everyone seems to be so confident right now that Utica would not be able to host a Quarterfinal game if presented with the opportunity to host, but are you saying that there is a possibility that it could happen for Utica?

NCAA doesn't actually care where the game actually takes place, unfortunately. They like to dumb it down and just look at their record of the campus-to-campus distance and say "oh, these two are close enough! We'll send them there!"

Re: NCAA Rankings?

The HS games are usually at 12 and three oclock...would be over by 5:30 ! I don't see why an 8 PM start wouldn't be fathomable...unless there's an issue with the day's practices as PROF said.

Those "practices" are normally just shooting and loosening up.

According to the Aud website, there are 4 games scheduled for the Saturday in question assuming UC either gets a bye or wins the play-in game the Wednesday before - this was covered on the UC thread, but I don't think there is enough time for NCAA mandated ice time for practice for both teams..and the start time for Saturday night would be later than the NCAA specifies....

Re: NCAA Rankings?

The only thing that matter is the NCAA guidelines. They spell everything out. Presumably, Utica could submit a bid that doesn't meet the guidelines and the NCAA could accept it or not. That probably is what they should/would do. With no bid, there is no chance - ask UMD what happens then
