Bowdoin & Neumann bump up 2, this time to 6th & 7th.
Hobart jumps up from 12th to 8th.
Utica drops from 6th to 9th.
Middlebury goes down 1 to 10th.
Castleton continues their dive, this time from 11th to 13th.
Williams bump up 1 from 13th to 12th.
Wentworth hangs in at 14th.

Wesleyan drops off the list.

Big question... Does a Neumann win bump them past Elmira and Bowdoin? Does a Hobart win do the same? Elmira should be rooting for Hobart I do believe...

Thank You, two more wins against ranked teams for Plattsburgh!

I don't think they do. If you look at the numbers, Elmira still has a pretty good lead over both Neumann and Bowdoin in Opp Avg Win %, and In region SOS. It would be awfully close, though.

Re: NCAA Rankings 2/28/12

Updated my post to note that the NESCAC's Wesleyan droped off the list.

Two less wins to a ranked team for Amherst & Bowdoin and one less win/loss for Middlebury & Williams, while Wentworth now has one less.

But I thought once they were ranked, they're always ranked. So even if they are ranked one week, and not the next, in the eyes of the NCAA...they're ranked. Maybe I have that wrong.

"Once ranked, always ranked" means Amherst & Bowdoin keep their two wins. But two additional wins for Plattsburgh - does it put them any closer to passing Amherst?

That being the case, the Known* ranked, but not currently on the list teams are Fredonia & Wesleyan.

* The secret ranking of 2/7 and of course whatever manipulation occurs in secret for the final ranking.

Re: NCAA Rankings 2/28/12

Elmira is still in the hunt?

Yes they are. As long as there are no upsets with favorites (Amherst, Norwich, Oswego-other than by Plattsburgh), I believe that they still have a shot. If Neumann beats Hobart, it would be surprising if the NCAA Committee selects them after their transgressions-what message would that send...just pay a fine and your slate is clean? If that is the case, Nazareth should open the purse strings and recruit like crazy while putting aside a fine fund for a few years down the road.

If Hobart beats Neumann, their 10 losses would hurt them despite their very strong end of season finish.

Officially the 2/7 rankings were mock rankings and teams in that list don't fall into the once-ranked always ranked category.

The Neumann postseason ban was conditional on whether or not any of their players continued to receive the offending package. None did. They are clean as far as the NCAA is concerned.

Re: NCAA Rankings 2/28/12

Well, if Elmira does get a shot, I really hope those 10 Seniors wake up and realize what an opportunity this will be. They have proven that they can play with the big boys, now go out there and "Get 'r done"
