Re: NCAA Quarterfinals: UMD at #1 Wisconsin, 3/12 at 7 p.m.
Just want to wish the Badgers luck . . . keep the Championship in the WCHA Bucky!!!
Was at the game in Madison . . . it was a great, tight game as we all expected it to be. Couldn't be more proud of the effort UMD put into that game, and it really could have gone either way. I also just had a good time at the game. Great atmosphere, fun crowd.
Thanks Dogs - Santa, Joce, Elin, Tara and Friddy. You guys put it all on the line.
Again, good luck to the Badgers - you guys will do it!!

The committee got their wish....there is only one team from WCHA. (I'm definitely not saying it's a good thing)
You gotta feel bad for UMD though. They could have beaten any team.....and they probably deserve better shots than playing the #1 seed.

I don't feel bad for UMD. They earned what they got by their performance over the course of the entire season. There were too many times that it seemed like they just weren't clicking. I don't know why, but it just felt like they were a tweak or two off from being the kind of Bulldog team we're used to seeing. They could've done better and they did give Wisconsin a hell of a game last weekend. The pairings for the tournament sucked for all the obvious reasons, but it is what it is. At this point in the season the better teams step up and perform.

To win the National Championship, you have to beat EVERY team you face once you get to the playoffs. UMD has taken Wisco to OT, as has Minny. There are a number of teams who, on any given day can beat another team. Sure, it may have been easier to play another team, but given that the next option was likely to be Cornell, do you think that would have been a more "favorable" opponent?
At least with Wisco they had the benefit of knowing the opposition.

Interesting way of thinking about it...but I'm not buying it
UMD is arguably the team badgers have the most trouble with this year.....you can't sell it on being a favor.
Sure, they know UMD very well. They know UMD well enough to know it's not a favor or advantage. Don't take my word for it. Read Mark Johnson's response.
