Well 2 legs swept 4 legs and Blu beat Green.

Dunno when but it should be
Oswego @ Norwich in the Prezidential Bowl
Eau Claire @ Utica for the Newbie Cup

Oh to put a mike on Prez on Friday!!

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal Thread. Do 4 legs beat 2 legs? Green/Gold > BluGold? RANTS!!

I wasn't trying to do that. Honestly.

But, I've saw them in person lose two years on a row to Oswego and this year blow a 2-0 lead. I felt the question had to be asked....

I meant my reply to be humorous..must not be thinking clearly as I lick my wounds for yet another season..there is always next year. It's a perfectly valid question!

How many times is Bowdoin going to lose in the quarterfinals?

You really think that it is a big surprise that the lower-seeded team lost a close quarterfinal game after playing a play-in game on Wednesday and then making the very long trip from Maine to upstate NY to meet a rested rival who had a full week to plan and practice for the game?

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal Thread. Do 4 legs beat 2 legs? Green/Gold > BluGold? RANTS!!

No. The bracket had the times when they first announced the bids. Like I said, they will change the semifinals if they feel one has a better chance of bringing in a larger crowd.

Do you think they would make a time change NU vs Oz should be a big crowd.

It's time to drink all those beers that the NCAA said I couldn't have! :D

Let's go UC!

Congrats to Utica! Your boys kept at it as the Bears seemed to lose steam, especially in the 3rd. The better team won tonight. Take nothing away from the Bears, however, they had a great run and gave Utica a run for their money.I'm sure it was great to be at the Aud to see a very well played comeback. Good luck to Utica in LP. Go Wick:D
Congrats to Bowdoin on a great season. They have an incredibly fast team... I was amazed with the team speed up and down the lineup. Their penalty kill was also very impressive (even if some of that was Utica's ineptitude on the PP).

So happy for Coach Heenan and the team. They started the game playing very poorly, but got a very important early goal in the second and Therrien kept them in the game long enough for them to take control in the third.

What a great season. I know nothing about Eau Claire so I'll just sit back and enjoy this as a fan for the next six days. I have to fly out of the country for work on Saturday, so it looks like I'll be doing quite a bit of driving on Friday.

Go UC!!

Leave Russell and I out of this.....congrats to the Lakers and Norwich.

We finally get the game that has been four years in the making....

Norwich Athletics Recap of Cadets' 4-0 win over Babson on Saturday.

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The fourth time proved to be the charm for the Norwich University men's ice hockey team against Babson.

After going winless in three attempts against Babson this season, including a 2-1 loss in the ECAC East championship game one week ago, Norwich (24-3-1) enacted its revenge with a resounding 4-0 shutout win over the Beavers (18-7-5) on Saturday night in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals at Kreitzberg Arena.

Senior forward Kyle Thomas (Waltham, Mass.) scored twice and junior forward Chris Duszynski (Okotoks, Alberta) notched two assists to lead the Norwich offense. Junior goalie Chris Czarnota (Wakefield, Mass.) also made 14 saves to pick up his third shutout of the season.

Norwich junior forward Shane Gorman (Trumbull, Conn.) scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal a little before the midway point of the first period when he tucked a backhand shot inside the left post to beat Babson goalie Zeke Testa off a pass from Duszynski. The goal was Gorman's eighth of the season and fourth over the last five games.

The Cadets added another goal with just 21 seconds left in the first period when Thomas sped down the left wing with Travis Janke (Swift Current, Saskatchewan) on a 2-on-1 and fired a wrist shot through Testa's five-hole for his 11th goal of the season.

Babson had a 3-on-2 of its own just moments before Thomas' goal but a NU defenseman blocked a Beaver shot attempt and the puck bounced right to Janke's stick to set up an odd-man rush going the other way. Janke head-manned the puck to the speedy Thomas and let him do the rest from there.

Determined to break its four-game winless skid against Babson, the Cadets never lifted their foot off the gas in the second period, outshooting the Beavers 17-3.

However, similar to last weekend's ECAC East Final, the Cadets weren't able to get anything past Testa in the middle stanza. The Babson goalie made perhaps the save of the year at the 9:55 mark of the second when he robbed Janke with a diving glove save off a 2-on-1 rush with Tory Allan (Davidson, Saskatchewan). Janke and Allan worked a give and go in the Babson defensive zone with Allan sending the puck over to Janke while right on top of the crease only to have Testa come diving across to block Janke's redirection just before it crossed the line.

Babson head coach Jamie Rice pulled Testa for an extra skater with just under four minutes to go in a desperation effort to try and find a goal. However, the Cadets stood tall and tacked on two more empty-net goals from Blake Forkey (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Thomas to cap the scoring.

Czarnota improved to 13-1-1 on the season with the victory and 20-2-2 overall in his career at Norwich. The shutout was Norwich's seventh of the season Testa finished with 34 saves and concluded his senior season with a 10-2-4 record.

The Cadets will now make their fourth straight NCAA Division III Frozen Four appearance and 11th in the last 17 seasons. Norwich will face SUNYAC champion Oswego State who beat Adrian 3-2 in overtime to punch their ticket to the national semifinals.

Norwich and Oswego State have both advanced to the Frozen Four in each of the last four seasons, but the two perennial powerhouses have yet to meet. That highly anticipated showdown will finally take place next Friday at 4 p.m. in the first of two semifinals at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, N.Y. Utica will face UW-Eau Claire in the other semifinal at 7:30 p.m. with both teams making their inaugural Frozen Four appearances.

The five seniors on this year's Norwich squad won the 2010 National Championship as freshmen in Lake Placid for the program third title. The last two seasons, NU has been knocked out by St. Norbert in the semifinals. However, the two-time defending national champion Green Knights were eliminated with a 3-1 loss to Eau-Claire in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

More information will be available throughout the week on www.norwichathletics.com for next weekend's 2013 NCAA Division III Frozen Four. Visit http://www.whiteface.com/events/ncaa-division-iii-mens-ice-hockey to purchase tickets!

Thanks for your kind thoughts about the Polar Bears. Good luck to Utica the rest of the way -- You've got a wonderful team, and it would be great to see them go all the way.

Norwich has their statement game, a 4-0 beating of a team that beat them 3 times this year....Oswego has a statement game, a 4-0 beating of a team that had beat them the last 3 times they played...Oz comeback OT win tonight against a team that bounced them out of the semi's a couple years back... Oswego v Norwich - an epic battle worthy of a Final...perhaps another time... Is it Friday yet?

Great day in the city of Utica.

Am i still bothered by some of the crap i read tonight? Yes.

However, if you dont like my energy and enthusiasm, the door is ---------> that way. Want boring? go find it somewhere else.

Good game, Bowdoin. You were the better team tonight, really. That forecheck was the eighth wonder of the world.

And that is all i have to say about that.

"That voice calling it currently" is a poster on this board and a friend of Keeley's ;)

Ah, the ;) - welp, everyone's got an opinion sir, and anyone can choose to be offended or disregard it.
I'm not censoring a polite opinion for the gratification of personalities on here that could have sensitive egos. You're implying I should be silent about it. Too late.;)

Don't sweat it - you guys did a great job and I think most people listening appreciate your energy.

You remind me of a guy that used to call the Maine Mariners games back in the late 70's - early 80's. A lot of people used to comment on how wound up he got during his broadcast. His name was Mike Emerick...I'm guessing you've heard of him. Things seemed to work out OK for him;)
