NCAA Quarterfinal: Norwich @ Plattsburgh 3/12

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: Norwich @ Plattsburgh 3/12

Apparantly you didn't hear after the game or read the paper......
Nope, did not listen to after the game. Did read the paper, saw that the reporter didn't like the call. What I said was that the coach didn't seem overly irate on the bench about it.

I guess you missed him almost jumping off the bench to get at Jones..... I have no problem with a penalty being called if it was an obvious call on a scoring chance. how you call something like that in the neutral zone at that point in the game is beyond me.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal: Norwich @ Plattsburgh 3/12

Stop whining. The better team won. Norwich Power Play is money in the bank. I say they repeat. Great job as usual by Coach McShane. Losers whine about bad calls. Plattsburgh should have scored more goals then they would not have been in this position. Show a little class.

"It's a shame the game and our season ended that way," said an emotional Plattsburgh State head coach Bob Emery. "This is the worst I've felt as a coach.

"I feel bad for our 24 players. They gave everything they had and followed the game plan. I felt we dominated a lot of the game and I didn't know what to say to the team.

Emery can not publically bash on the reffs, but I'm sure you will think he is talking about something other then that.........Had Norwich won 5 on 5 or even an honroable PP goal no one would complain. Norwich deserved to win better just as Plattsburgh deserved to lose better.

You're right, if he did, I missed it. When I saw looked he wasn't. But no one in maroon made the call, so to say the team doesn't deserve to advance, or should somehow turn down the invitation to advance is foolish.

Are you on crack the better team won?? What game were you watching....?? Maybe the better PP team....

are you serious? did you see the game? Dunning said it best himself " you guys are dominating this game 5 on 5." maybe not a direct quote, but the word dominating definitely came out of his mouth. I'm not so mad that Plattsburgh lost the game, it's the matter in which they lost the game that gets me. I just hope that Jones gave himself an assist on the game winner.

He can do so if he wishes. McShane has in the past and accepted the game suspension that goes with it. If you feel that strongly enough about it, I guess you do.

Both teams played great, skilled, disciplined (by hockey standards) hockey; the “controversy” isn’t against team, their coaches or their fans. It is that the officials set a tone of “may the best team win”, particularly beginning with the third period, they let events that technically could have been called a penalty go, these events like the neutral ice interference call, had less an affect in determining who was the best team than the consequence of calling a penalty. The problem is, that any true fan of the sport cannot be excited about the way it turned out. Norwich fans deserve the excitement of seeing their team move on, I know I would be, but I also know that I would have preferred the teams make their statement full strength, and not be the benefactor of poor call/inconstant officiating. Norwich owes to the sport to give their best and to make their school and fans proud, nothing THEY did should take anything away from that, they proved themselves a great team and worthy opponent, sadly, one poor call leaves the question of who the best team truly was inconclusive.

Agree Norm. But its too hard for other people to see it as that. I guess thats the difference of being a fan of the game and not a team.

Attention Division III Hockey World,

Plattsburgh State fans are the only true hockey fans.

Signed,

Remy

You would never be making this argument and calling Norwich fans true hockey fans if they questioned a call in the exact opposite scenario with Plattsburgh winning and Norwich losing on a similiar call.

Keep dreaming, you can go back to posts from Day 1 and see I've ALWAYS said this....nice try....I am NOT saying PSU fans are only true hockey fans as some would be doing the same thing. Just goes to show how much of a homer you are....just wait a few days, you'll find another team...

To anyone who took my comments as sounding like I was trying to imply the Norwich fans were less than true fans, I appologize, that was NOT my desire. My point was - and is - that it is what it is - a poor call denied the teams and fans from seeing who was the best team. IMO, the quality of the Norwich fans attending the game was quite apparent, outnumbered by my estimate of 3 to 1, they still showed more support than the majority of Plattsburgh fans who were their typical lethargic selves.

Nice to finally meet you Norm. I said the following in the D3west.com chat room while the overtime between Norwich and Plattsburgh was going on:

"This is why Division III college hockey is the best sport there is"

The same here  But remember - always call a spade a spade. (Though I am, perhaps, a little more free to criticize anyone at Plattsburgh, than perhaps you are to criticize anyone – anywhere).

 I'll say just one more thing and I am done with this game. Probably one of the best games I have ever watched. Only other game that ever came close for me was the primelink a few years ago when wick/midd played in the finial. That went to a shootout, which I think Norwich won. Not the same thing here, but again its just sad to see a game end this way. Norwich pp was lights out deadly. I thought platts. had a little edge 5 on 5. The call that was made really surprised me. Where it was called and when?, ugh! Both refs were letting them play, a few calls on both teams were let go. A high stick by a Norwich player to the mask of a Platts. Player was let go, and after that I thought, "ok they are gonna let the players decide this 5-5." The reason I remember that so well you could hear the stick "ding" off the mask. It was right over by the bench with one ref standing right there! Other penalties were let go by the refs that could have been against Platts, but there again, no scoring chances were involved. I guess it is what it is. Unless a scoring chance is taken away or something so obvious that a call has to be made, let the players determine the game. I wish norwich well and hope they defend their D3 Crown. Just don't let Oswego Win It All....;):D

P.S....and after all my bloviating above, maybe jones figured the interference call prevented the wick player from chipping the puck ahead and getting in for a good chance? Things happen fast...seemed like both players and the puck were there at the same time, maybe not.

You really want to know why the staff isn't as LOUD as it used to be? Dingleberry and the utterly stupid seating arrangements that are still at the staff TO THIS DAY. People "I" sat with "for years" are scattered all over now. Zoo Crew long gone!!! Simplistic Explanation??? You Bet...but "RIGHT ON THE MONEY".:D

Dude, you're going to come with "Losers" and then tell us to "show a little class" in the same breath?? COACH MCSHANE would have charged onto the ice and his head would have exploded in Jones' face had Norwich received that penalty in that spot.
