NCAA Quarterfinal - Norwich @ Amherst

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Norwich @ Amherst

Good Luck with them. Cardinals tied them 0-0.... and it was a pretty wide-open game !!

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Norwich @ Amherst

Was the Plymouth State game as close as the score indicates?

I see PS had 2X in the penalty category.

Biggest difference was Plymouth blocked like 45% of Norwich's total shot attempts, while Norwich had maybe 5-6 blocked shots all game (but one BIG one in the final seconds of the 3rd)

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Norwich @ Amherst

If Norwich can come out of the gate and force the issue in the early going, I see them winning by a big margin. If they let the Lord Jeffs hang around, or get an early lead, then they will have to play well above their last 3 efforts to go to Minnesota.

I highly doubt either team will be blowing out the other on Saturday.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Norwich @ Amherst

Norwich likes to possess the puck. Amherst denies puck possession. If IF Amherst can get 25 shots, they stand a good chance of winning.

Yep. And it's been a good indicator of Norwich's success or failure in the post season.

Oswego put up 34 shots to Norwich's 27 in their 6-3 win over Norwich in 2013, Geneseo put up 25 in their 3-2 win in 2014, SNC only put up 23 shots in their 4-1 win over Norwich in 2012. SNC only put up 18 to Norwich's 41 in their 2011 win over them, compare that to Plattsburgh who put up 31 to Norwich's 21 in the game prior where Plattsburgh lost in OT.
I don't see a correlation.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Norwich @ Amherst

I'll be headed down to the game after the NU women lost a tough one last night.

It was a tough one last night but I was certainly prepared for that outcome given recent performances against Plattsburgh. I'm a bit more optimistic about our men's team.

Wife ill. Had to cancel the hotel, and give our tickets to friends. Will it be streamed somewhere?

Certainly wasn't expecting a win but I thought our women played very well for large portions of the game. Just couldn't overcome the four goal hole.

The second Plattsburgh goal did not appear to ever actually go in the net and that was a real momentum killer.
