NCAA Hockey video game!

Re: NCAA Hockey video game!

was going to say, it should be easy to incorporate them into the NHL version. Would be nice to have a real selection for the draft instead of the fake names (buddy orr?). Plus with roster updates, it wouldn't hard to have some semblance to the real world.

Re: NCAA Hockey video game!

Going for the Major-Juniors makes sense. Depending on what happens with the NCAA licensing case going on (brought about by Ed O'Bannon of all people) this could be the EA showing the way of the future for themselves. If they can get the CHL to sign off on allowing their players to be in the game... Wow.

That said, if the NCAA case can get squared away and since EA has the NCAA license locked up as it is... Well, maybe, just maybe, a board meme could die.

There might be legal problems with that -- many of the players are under 18. But then again, the teams can use the players in their programs, ads, etc.

Major Junior teams are like Minor League baseball teams -- it is a constant struggle for revenue to cover operating costs. Anything that brings in a little $ is good.

So when does EA make a game with Catholic Memorial and Archbishop Williams? ;)

Obviously with American minor leagues and the NCAA basically owning every right possible, not to mention respective players unions, this is why I wonder if things would be different with the Canadian juniors. EA doesn't dick around with things and will just fill rosters with their own fake players if they can't get rights to players names/likenesses.

Take a look at Team Russia on NHL 10, they had a handful of guys that play in the KHL and none of them were on the Team Russia roster because they didn't have rights to that league. Instead they filled it with other Russian NHL players. Same goes for all other national teams where they didn't have rights to their players. Hell, why do you think Team England been the same players for the last 12 years? :)

I already beat NCAA Hockey 2014. I had Darmouth upsetting St, Clooud, Brom, {PROVICED and the Skating Deer Ticks to become a perennial powerhouse and give Paint Thinner Nation their desevrings.
