NCAA Finals Thread - A Fowl taste on Pointer's tongue?

Re: NCAA Finals Thread - A Fowl taste on Pointer's tongue?

In non-DIII scores involving DIII institutions:

RIT 2
Minnesota State Mankato 1
Final.

#16 RIT 2
#1 Minnesota State Mankato 1
Final.

Just to clear things up...IMO good call on the Tigers 2nd goal. Loved the reaction of Mitchell. Scores and puts his hands on his helmet like "oh my god"! Great group of hardworking kids. Ruby was just crazy with rebound control.

Anyways on to DIII Go Chickens!

For those of you not following D1. ...RIT, who got into the tournament the cheap way (according to the D1 folks) by getting the auto bid for winning their league tournament, has just knocked off the overall #1seed.

Re: NCAA Finals Thread - A Fowl taste on Pointer's tongue?

It’s College hockey, and better yet... it’s playoff College hockey. As much as the purists claim that Cinderella has no business playing on their sandbox, it is a great story when Cinderella moves-on to the next contest. You win, you move-on... end of discussion. You lose, you’re a spectator... end of story.

Fortunately (or not, for some, err... many), we have two Cinderellas playing tonight in DIII-land. I would be pleased to have some “new-meat” take-home the hardware (Trinity), but I’m a ‘west-of-the-Hudson’ kinda guy, and I must pull for UW-Stevens Point tonight.

So get your defibrillators ready, and as I said in another thread...

Go Tigers!!!
Go Point!!!

Cheers!!!

Pairwise rankings before this game: #1 MSU, #38 RIT (now #2 and #35)
KRACH (Fishman's favorite metric) after this game: #2 MSU, #44 RIT.

Great win by the Tigers. Tigers won so they're TOTALLY the better of the two teams, right?

And here I was trying to play nice.... lol

And on the DIII note, this is the only reason why I hate the "West" getting to host the NCAA's....It's 7:48...we should be done the first period and into the 2nd by now....yes this is a joke too...

I watched RIT in the final 4 in 2010 from my hospital bed at Allegheny General hospital (Pittsburgh, Pa). I had back surgery earlier that afternoon, so with the meds, I don't remember a lot of the game, other than RIT got pounded.

Both Point and Trinity have team speed.....both have proven that their offense is nasty no matter who they play....and both teams have consistently shown impressive team defense against top competition. I have to wonder if tonight comes down which team is able to limit blue-line turnovers (i.e. minimize their opponent's chances in transition).

....Or does special teams play turn the tide tonight?

But Miami got pounded even worse in the next game...
