National Semi-Final: Minnesota vs. North Dakota

Re: National Semi-Final: Minnesota vs. North Dakota

The issue here is simple, one program has something that they feel that they can look back upon with pride, and SOME of another rival program's fans, being a bunch of disrespectful homer losers want to TRY to rob and steal this from their hated rivals, they want to TRY to deny that its something that pride can be felt about.

It's akin to the LOSING team claiming the winning team doesn't deserve to be prideful about winning, because the refs screwed the losing team out of the win.

It's POOR sportsmanship.

It's weak, its lame, its pathetic.

It would be EQUALLY AS LAME for a fan of Minnesota to try to put down UND as a program for NOT relying on home grown talent, as the reality is that the population of North Dakota can not realistically support a National Title winning program without looking outside of its borders to find enough quality players.

But, part of the reason for this is that while UMn was struggling to win Natl Titles, because of their stance against recruiting Canadians and their trying to recruit mostly if not only Minnesotans, UND was NOT doing anything to encourage or build up their states hockey situation, so here we are decades later, and North Dakota STILL has to rely on getting recruits from Canada and other states, while Minnesota is NOW benefitting from their earlier efforts because they have plenty of good Minnesota grown hockey players to choose from and wouldn't have to go outside of their state borders if they didn't want to, but unlike in the past, they don't need to help the state's hockey situation anymore, so now they CAN recruit out of state on occasion.

And the thing is, while UND's reward for their efforts has been 7 NCAA titles compared to UMn's only having 5 specifically NCAA titles, they needed a Golden Gopher to help them win their last 2.

AND, Minnesota has been rewarded for their efforts with OVER TWENTY former players in the US Hockey Hall of Fame, while UND has what? 2 or 3?

20+ vs 2 or 3

16-17 that got in on their own right, and another 6 or so that got in as a part of a Gold Medal Winning Olympic team for Minnesota.

So some of the more lame and pathetic UND fans may not appreciate what UMn did and still does to a degree when it comes to recruiting, but USA HOCKEY seems to appreciate what UMn did and does, apparently.

And when the US wins another Gold Medal, my guess is it will be the University of Minnesota who will be getting some pats on the back from the US loving loyal media...

NOT the Nazi sympathizing, Native American disrespecting, No name, Canadian loving, One Tree State University of North Dakota.

;)
Drugs have screwed you up.

You can't even used your narrow (only attendance matters) definition for that in your favor right now.

Attendance

So sad :(

Are we forgetting that Minnesota counted an outdoor game in a 50,000 seat football stadium as home game? Or...

Re: National Semi-Final: Minnesota vs. North Dakota

Who would have guessed that you don't understand the two truths that willy and I brought up, despite them being explicitly stated. Since you are obviously also too embarrassed to actually become educated, I shall none the less attempt one more time.
1.Denver, UND, Wisconsin and Michigan have won more NC than Minnesota has.
Note: This is the statement that caused Scooby to intially roll his eyes and for you to, in turn, agree with his eye rolling. I'd have thought you'd at least remember this since it literally happened less than two hours ago. I guess I overestimated your short term memory capabilities.
2. UND has more homegrown talent than Minnesota. 2>0.

Correction-- Your welcome.

Re: National Semi-Final: Minnesota vs. North Dakota

CHN's Frozen Four Preview 4/6/14 on UND is entitled:

Not Far From the Tree

But there was no picture of the tree:p

Re: National Semi-Final: Minnesota vs. North Dakota

It's funny when Dirty tries to pretend he is intelligent.
It's sad when Gopher fans indulge him. :(

It's funny when FS23 pulls things out of his *** to give support to Dirty.
It's sad that this time I think he may actually believe in the nonsense he has extracted from his rear. :(

People who honestly try to suggest that Plymouth, South St. Paul or Hopkins (to name just a few) aren't part of the MPLS/St. Paul Metro should be ridiculed and then wholly dismissed as promptly as possible.

Those cities are part of the metro area but they are not Minneapolis or St. Paul, so Minnesota has no homegrown talent. It's really not that difficult to grasp.

UND: Homegrown Pride on Ice

you should hang a banner.

Re: National Semi-Final: Minnesota vs. North Dakota

Even Bruce Ciskie, the UMD radio announcer, has said that no fan base travels better than UND.
Well if Ciskie said it.....:rolleyes::p

In Omaha two seasons ago the arena workers told us that Gopher fans were by far the biggest crowd of opposing fans they had seen, "....even more than North Dakota." So while it appears you North Dakota fans to have a pretty well traveled fanbase, it is clear that you are not the best.

The true question, though: Which fanbase, Minnesota or North Dakota, have the most homegrown fans? Discuss.....

:D

Why trust Ciskie when you have an arena worker...

BTW, I call bullsh!+ on this... I have heard first hand that this is not true. Would love an Omaha fan to chime in on this.

We already figured this out. Using the Gopher definition, everyone in the world is homegrown.

Hitler...Homegrown Gopher fan
Stalin?...Spelling out Minnesota while sending his Gopher kin to the Goulag.
The list goes on and on...:p:D:D

Sheesh willy, are you in a bad mood today? Just trying to have a little fun with a little he(Ciskie) said, she(arena worker) said on a Tuesday morning to stir the pot and you're already not having it? I thought you were better than that.....:p

I have a co-worker from Omaha that can confirm this. His brother's college roommate went to a few games several seasons ago and he said that the crowds at Gopher games had noticeably more Gopher fans than games against UND had UND fans.

Dunno.

I'm siding with Dirty in this one.

He'd be an expert on what constitutes home.

He never leaves his Moms basement.

I'm in a great mood... trust me, this board is for fun. I certainly wouldn't let it dictate how my day was going.:D
