NAHA Labor/Labour Day Tournament 2010

5 4 Fighting

New member
The annual NAHA tourney goes this year from Friday 9/3 to Sunday 9/5 with a number of good teams converging on Burlington for the weekend. Again they are running U16 & U19 divisions.

Looks as though they have brushed up their website a bit this year as well..

Re: NAHA Labor/Labour Day Tournament 2010

Nice website. Who are the favorites?

Good question! I'm hoping that someone that is in the know can advise.

The Western teams should be a little stronger this year. Warner, The Edge & Rocky Mountain Storm all have accomplished players on their teams.

Re: NAHA Labor/Labour Day Tournament 2010

There will be two very good Minnesota Teams at NAHA. The Minnesota Jr. Whitecaps and Minnesota IceCats who finished 2nd last year at NAHA.

Both Teams are made up of the top players in MN who play HS Hockey where 3500 girls play HS hockey in MN. There are only three JR AAA in MN - Shattuck, Thoroughbreds and the HS post grad program MN Crunch. These two teams play each other in weekend jamborees which also include alumni of the programs who are playing D1 and in summer tournaments. Following are possible players who will travel and play.

Looking forward to it OnMAA...what about the Ottawa Senators I see they are in our pool?

Anybody have the skinny on Little Caesars this year?

Re: NAHA Labor/Labour Day Tournament 2010

LC should be weaker this year. They graduated most of their really strong players and it appears that Belle Tire will be the strong U19 team out of Detroit this year. Several top Honey Baked and LC girls moved to Belle Tire.

Charb's, how do your Selects look this year?

Re: NAHA Labor/Labour Day Tournament 2010

How about the Naha White U19 team? Do they have a chance of winning this tournament?

They are always a threat. I would not count out AV either.

Sens are not as deep up front as last year, losing two big gunners. They will be strong in the back and in Nets.

Re: NAHA Labor/Labour Day Tournament 2010

Decent, but rebuilding year. Graduated 14 Sr's last year....a lot of good '92's graduated. Tough to lose scorers like Turgeon, Fry, Gross, and Mott. Defense will be very young. Good news is 2 new and very good goalies that will keep them in some games.

14! Yowser. Sounds kinda like a College I know...

Re: NAHA Labor/Labour Day Tournament 2010

Just pouring over the roster of the Rocky Mountain Storm U16's...Plenty of young talent there from all over Western Canada. I count 2 from Saskatchewan, 2 from Manitoba and the balance from Alberta. It'll be interesting to see how the U16 division goes this year. Tommorows talent today...

Anybody else have any insight into the 16 Division?

Re: NAHA Labor/Labour Day Tournament 2010

This might be a stupid question...Is it possible to travel by chartered bus from Logan Airport to Harvard in 20 minutes on a Wednesday afternoon at 4pm? If not how long would this trip take?

It will be longer than 20 mintues but not too much more, unless there is an accident.

I'd say half an hour should do it.

I think 40-50 minutes is more realistic. I 'm not real keen on the way that mapquest wants to send you. That section of I-90 that intersects with I-93 is a bear from about 3 PM until 7 PM, and then the rest of the way via Mapquest takes you through a whole series of traffic lights. I have found that Mapquest/Garmin do not typically do a good job of anticipating the impact of traffic lights with their directions and time estimates.

The problem you have is that you are going to be on a Chartered Bus. There are easier ways to Harvard via either Storrow Drive or Memorial Drive ("the river roads" along The Charles), but I'm quite sure that Storrow is restricted to cars only.

UCONNFAN might have a better suggestion.....

I hate to say "It depends" but it depends...

Google Maps says Sumner Tunnel to Storrow Drive then wind your way through the streets of Cambridge and you'll be there in 12 minutes. All of those roads will be extremely congested at 4pm. I would guess somewhere between 30 to 40 minutes, although you have a chance at 20. You would do yourself a great favor if you could get out of Logan a bit earlier -- even 15 or 20 minutes would make a difference in the traffic.

Ice is correct. Storrow Drive has height restrictions so you'll have a longer route in the bus.
