Re: N_c_h_a (009'-010' A.d.)

FYI -- Superior won the NCHA last season and therefore were "08-09 NCHA Conference Champions". Stout won the Playoff Championship (Peters Cup). Might want to fix your sig.

Frozen Four vs. Championship Finals
Pink Fluffy Bunnies vs. Captain's Practice vs. Voluntary Individual Workouts

The terminology! Ughhhh

Yes, except in this case it's not multiple terms being used for the same thing. There is a distinct difference between the NCHA Conference Champion and Peters Cup Champion.

Btw, when was this official decree declaring the Stout student section the "best in the NCHA"? They got some work to do to catch up to Point...

I won’t delve into my view that deep. I’d see much more distinction between NCHA Regular Season Champions and Playoff Champions. (or keeping Peter’s Cup as a moniker) Conference vs. Peter’s Cup just seems confusing, especially to those uninitiated.

Btw, when was this official decree declaring the Stout student section the "best in the NCHA"? They got some work to do to catch up to Point...

I think it was self-proclaimed title, with some facts backing it up of course. After the NCHA Peter’s Cup game in Superior last season, it was cemeted. I believe the quote was… “The only thing missing is three rings and a ring master… I would call them the dominant force in Wessman tonight” – Matthew Webb -- We’re talking about standing up the UWS students in their own barn. A historic program in a title game in their own place and they got worked by the DA, I call that battle win impressive by any measure.

Now that is not comparing the DA to the RC, there I would have to cite any of your three Facebook groups (which most college students use Facebook to some extent) are still lagging behind in membership compared to the DA.
We’re still working on that national media coverage and pond hockey team, though. It’s coming :D

I'll give it to you that the performance at Superior is impressive.

Facebook group membership is irrelevant. The DA's, as solid as they can be at times, don't have the numbers to compete with the 600 students that fill the South end of the Willett. It's the sheer numbers that are tough to compete with, and the interplay with the band helps as well.

Things should be interesting in the RC this season as rumor has it the road goalie is back down in that end for periods 1 and 3.

In all honesty the best student efforts I saw last year were:

1. SNC @ Point (RC)
2. Hamline @ Gustavus (Gustavus students)
3. Stout @ UWS (DA's)

I have to imagine it will be even louder this year with the road team coming out in that end.

There is a difference between being a solid student section and being obnoxious, threatening, and plain rude. The circus analogy is correct, that group was a bunch of clowns.

Well by all means elaborate on the differences of a solid student section and being obnoxious, threatening, and plain rude.

I do recall being at the game, and having three UW-Superior fans walking out throwing bottle (glass) and cans at the group I was with. Now if that's not threatening and plain rude, I don't know what is. I think you've got a mixed story here, or you only have one side of the story.  May want to look into a bit more before assuming things?

Kind of like the bottle that flew from the Stout section and hit an 8 year old girl in the face?

Re: N_c_h_a (009'-010' A.d.)

yeah, it was hard to watch her get carried out of Wessman....crying, not because the Jackets lost or that the mascot scared her, but becasue an idiot threw a full beer into her face.

on a lighter note, ncha action starts 24 hours from now here in Superior!!!!!:D

Re: N_c_h_a (009'-010' A.d.)

Bring it on. I can't wait.

that's the spirit!!!! i hope to see a good turnout here in soup town. i'd really like to see a rejuvinated student section!

rossett will be minding the yellowjacket net tomorrow. big skates to fill.

i will be paying close attention to blue line action. UWS defense is still up in the air. plenty of up front weapons including 4 of the 5 points leaders from last year. would like to see first forward line (or PP) as follows: Braden Desmet, Logan Isley, and Chris Wilson.

19 hours!

Re: N_c_h_a (009'-010' A.d.)

Prediction...... The other EC in DIII hockey UWEC is still the David in this Goliath (s/p) of a conference, but I think this will be the year that they make their mark. Time will tell, but a good (under the radar) recruiting class with some strong leadership. Also, one of three teams in the NCHA with proven goaltending. Regardless of the outcome, looking forward to the back to back series and a lot of BG wins!

Re: N_c_h_a (009'-010' A.d.)

Not to beat a dead horse, but why would there by any glass bottles they could throw in the arena in the first place? If they snuck them in I'd have to think there should have been a closer watch kept on them. Not to blame the folks at Superior for the particular incident by any means, but a bunch of college kids going on the road for a hockey game aren't smart enough not to get caught drinking out of glass bottles if someone is paying attention. What did that girl's father do? It scares me to think about what I know I would do if that happened to my daughter.

I'd love to see Eau Claire jump up, but unfortunately about the best I see for them this season is trying to overtake St. Scholastica for 6th and maybe River Falls for 5th.

Re: N_c_h_a (009'-010' A.d.)

surely could be. garrett tinkham will also dress.

less than 10 hours!

From what I hear, it will be split between those two this season. I just hope the new goalie coach (Rob Anderson UM-Duluth '03) has worked with both of these guys.
