My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Payback for what? The Bruins gave him an overly generous contract too soon and now Dallas gets to pay it.

I'm talking about payback for two years of "Thank You Kessel" from the fans and media in Boston.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Alfie looks like he's heading to Motown

Meanwhile, Grabovski teed off on Randy Carlyle after being bought out by the Maple Leafs.

"I play in the [expletive] Russian KHL, I make lots of [expletive] points and what's going to happen? He make me [expletive] play on the fourth line and he put me in the playoffs on the fourth line and third line again," Grabovski spewed. "Yeah, I don't score goals. I need to work more about that. I know that. But if you feel support from your coach [you'll find success]. I don't feel any support from this [expletive] idiot."

I get that, but what does this have to do with Toronto? Boston traded him to free up cap space (the off-ice rumors are just that) so it's hardly a reason for Toronto to celebrate.

No less of a reason for the usual Boston smear job when peeps leave town. Amazing how when any player goes he was a problem this and that.

I guess that some just don't understand that tabloid papers like the Sun & NY Post thrive on sarcasm/satire/humor.

Anyway, Evgeni Nabokov is staying with the Islanders - 1 year, $3.25M

Ference is the first hockey/baseball player in a while to avoid that. Last major player I can recall that wasn't smeared was Ray Bourque.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Emery back to Philly, Alfie to Motown -- both one year deals

Ference is an Oiler - 4 yrs, $13 million

We need a direct feed to TSN here! :D

Defenceman Mike Komisarek meanwhile is set to join his third NHL team,. The former Motnreal Canadien and Toronto Maple Leaf has agreed to a one-year, $700,000 dollar deal with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Elsewhere, the Phoenix Coyotes have been very busy on Frenzy day. The Coyotes have signed veteran free agent centre Mike Ribeiro and re-upped with forward Lauri Korpikoski on a four-year deal worth $2.5 million per season. The Coyotes also signed goalie Thomas Greiss to a one-year $750,000 deal and re-signed centre Kyle Chipchura.

The Florida Panthers meanwhile have re-signed forward Shawn Matthias to a two-year deal with an average annual value of $1.75 million.

Smear or no smear, a good pickup for CBJ -- IF he stays healthy.

Think there is a colarary that doesn't apply to middle of the pack "bleh" players.
They can of course can get smeared like Jim leyritz, but it not required that they are

Reasons Alfie Chose Detroit:

To beat Toronto in the Winter Classic.

Detroit really is the Fountain of Youth.

Ain't nobody ever gonna become Babcock's twin behind the bench. That hair is a masterpiece.

And now he'll get booed in Toronto AND Ottawa. ;)

Just in from my PBP buddy Steve Clark:

NHL Network knows where their bread is buttered - the carry TSN on trade deadline, draft day, and free agent day.

Bozek 5 yrs with the Leafs - sane money, but I missed the $$ amounts.

EDIT: Clarkson to St. Lawrence - oops - Toronto Maple Leafs -- 7(?) years, dollar amount is being worked on.
