My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Dan Bylsma has been named coach of the 2014 US Olympic Team. As a Pens fan (sure to get some flak for that), I am happy to see this as I have always like Bylsma and was also happy that they extended his contract.

FLAK!!11!!1! ;)

I worry that Bylsma's playing strategy will not lead to a good finish for the US, though with Quick being the likely starter, and him sounding quite fired up over the Kings' unceremonious exit from this year's playoffs, perhaps that won't matter so much. Otherwise, I'm fine with the pick.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Tyler Kennedy to San Jose for 2nd rounder. Pens and Letang close to a deal. Rats, was hoping he'd wind up in Toronto.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Barkov looking and sounding absolutely thrilled to be drafted by Florida. :D :p

EDIT: And now Nashville can run up to the podium and take Jones.

Getting Cory Schneider for the #9 overall is another steal on draft day by Lou Lamoriello.
The guy is genius.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Like the Wild trade for Niederreiter

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

If (as it appears) Neiderreiter just needs a change of scenery, this could be a good pickup for the Wild. Plus Clutterbuck's statistics were plateauing...

Cal can go back to protecting Tavares' backside like he did in Oshawa.
Apparently Nino has some attitude questions, hopefully we can straighten him out.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Looks like the CanSucks are stuck with 7uno8o.

They stuck themselves. No one wants Lu on that contract, and the owners won't part with the money to let Gillis buy him out. So, he's a Cansuck for the rest of his career.

Sounded like he was unhappy with playing in Bridgeport, and the Islanders didn't think he was good enough for the big club.

Red Wings reaching a little bit with Mantha. Big guy with soft hands, but an equally soft style and attitude. If they can fix his compete level, get him to add 30 lbs. and encourage him to hit, he could be a great power forward for Detroit. Or, he could just be another Franzen.

Reports coming from the draft floor indicate that Gillis' plan all along was to only develop Cory well enough to flip him for a high draft pick. Sounds like back pedaling by Gillis.

Also: Luongo was absolutely blindsided by the trade. Cory, well, he was texted by a friend at TSN to "Turn the draft on..." to find his fate.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Still can't believe Jones fell to Nashville. Poille's gotta be dancing in the streets - have a crappy year and land Suter's replacement.

Yeah, Lu apparently is shocked and will not talk to reporters. :D

Meanwhile, when Brodeur finally retires, the Devils now have his replacement after years of not drafting goalies.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

With the never-ending 7uno8o trade saga and having to deal with the Sedins, what's the over/under on a date that Torts snaps on the media up in Vancouver?

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

So Bolland to the Leafs, Frolik to the Jets. Are the Hawks recreating the summer of 2010 again? Who else gets voted off the island?

Read on twitter that there are bandwagoners who are calling for Bowman's head for making all these trades right after winning.

Hilarious. :D

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Brodeur's kid taken by NJ and he announces the pick.

Last time we lost:

Ladd
Byfuglien
Versteeg
Niemi

This time:
Bolland
Frolik

and re-signed Bickell

Not even close. I'm happy and believe that they may bring a free agent with the freed up cap space.

Despite his game 6 heroics, Bolland was suffering from yearly diminishing returns since 2010 and would have walked after next season. Glad we got some picks.

Frolik was a great pk and will be missed in that role, but his cap hit was a bit much for a 4th liner.

Hope they do well in the future and at least they don't leave Chicago empty handed.
