My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Feeling a little detached. Ending almost doesn't seem real.

It hurts, no question...but I like Chicago. Always have. I can live losing to them, there's no hate there. They play the right way and were the better team. Hard to be angry about losing to the better team.

Now had they lost in 2011....well. Whole other story. I'd have multiple broken things in my room.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Mercy. What a finish.

If The Bruin's hadn't won in 2011, Boston would be on fire right now.

My favorite college hockey team scored twice with :59 seconds left in 2009 and now my favorite pro hockey team scores twice with 1:16 left. Both to win a championship.* Amazing.

*The Terriers needed a 3rd score in OT to seal the deal.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Bergeron with his injuries.

Hossa with a disc problem that made it so he couldn't feel his foot.

Handzus with a broken wrist and torn mcl.

Bickell with a sprained knee.

Many more to come without a doubt.

Unimaginable courage displayed in these Finals. Just wow.

A broken rib keeps some people in a wheelchair ... Bergeron straps on the pads and goes and knock around some Blackhawks.

Hossa was clearly playing on one leg.
Nathan Horton was not himself.
Toews was not healthy.
I suspect Jagr was playing injured.

There's a lot of hints in the statistics... and we may never hear about all of them. Which in itself makes the Stanley Cup Finals unique .... when was the last time an NBA player played with a broken rib? or a FIFA World Cup won by someone playing with a broken wrist or a disc problem? Yeah, I'm biased because I'm fond of ice hockey, but really ... these guys are inspiring.

Just wow.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

I really enjoyed the whole series of games. at the same time, two ice hockey games after the summer solstice??

As much as I love to play hockey and watch it, the Stanley Cup playoffs need to end before June. With the number of southern markets, and people looking at summer as the time to be outside, it just doesn't make good sense to play hockey at this time of year.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Where'd Boston boy TimP slink off to?

"Oh wat a beautiful game. We'll sweep the Penguins and then destroy whatever sacrificial lamb the West serves up. The Cup's coming home again! History will be made!"

"It doesn't matter how they look, the Bruins will still destroy them."

"Don't insult me like that. I know a championship-caliber team when I see one, and this is it."

"Now boarding the Pittsburgh Penguins' charter flight to the ditch. Get ready Chicago. You're next!"

Memo to TimP from Boston. The Hawks aren't the Penguins. ;)
