My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Agreed. It wasn't conclusive to overturn the on-ice call, but it WAS the right call to not call the penalty.

Because penalties should't be called on the home team in overtime.

Nice of ESPN to notice the game tonight

TYLER SEGUIN WITH THE WINNER! Bruins defeat Blackhawks, 2-1 in OT to knot Stanley Cup Final at 1 as it heads back to Boston.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Blackhawks won 1 period decisively.

Bruins won all the rest. Totally dominated from the start of the second on.

Series on.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Period 10 was supposed to be in Boston on Wednesday night. Instead we've already seen 10 periods and it's only Saturday.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

SO the key to this series is going to be let the other team score first and you will be rewarded in over time.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Got a last minute call to go to the Calder Cup final. Sell out or near sell out crowd and the place was rockin', unfortunately the GR goaltender decided to put up an amazing stat line of 17/21 shots saved versus Syracuse's 40/42. Add in an ENG and the Griffins lost 5-2 to make it a 3-2 series. Goes back to Syracuse now and if the Crunch win the Calder then they will have pulled off the 3-0 comeback.

Major NHL award winners announced today and tomorrow

Masterton: Josh Harding
Selke: Jonathan Toews
Jack Adams: Paul MacLean
Lady Byng: Martin St. Louis
GM of the Year: Ray Shero

Interesting how this award has morphed into a "Most Complete Player" award. There may be some better defensive forwards, but the three finalists are the three most complete players. Maybe it should be called "If you're a coach, tell your forwards to play like that award".

Major awards part 2:

Calder: Huberdeau
Norris: Subban
Hart: Ovechkin (32 points seperated him and Crosby)
Vezina: Bobrovsky
Lindsay: Crosby

This award has become a bad joke, ever since guys like Paul Coffey started winning it. Hint: Subban and turnover machine Letang aren't playing any more, and Keith, Seidenberg, and Chara are.

This is awesome. Someone wrote down every one of Doc's synonyms for the verb "pass" in last night's game:

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Really surprised Don Levin isn't part of that deal.

And not surprised that this also screwed up the AHL and caused the Canucks to move to Utica. Seattle was pretty high on the list of potential places for the Canucks to relocate the Peoria Rivermen.

and that doesn't even take in the other phrases he uses that drives me nuts:

"passes it geometrically"
"regathers" (used when someone simply picks up a loose puck, can you regather what you did not have previously?)

I guess Petr Mrazek isn't quite as ready for the big club as some thought. ;)

No, and after witnessing last night's game in person, unless he pulls his head out of his ***, they'll either win the cup in spite of his play, or lose because of his play. He let up some pretty soft goals.

... but on the flip side, his defense wasn't doing a whole lot to help him either. DeKeyser looked good, but looked mediocre at times, mostly on the play of his defensive partner Paetsch who looked like Lilja Jr. out there. One of the first goals, Paetsch picked the puck up from Mrazek's left and tried to pass it to DeKeyser (who was skating towards the blue line to get the puck out) and when he fired it, it wound up a tape to tape pass to a Crunch player who skated around Paetsch and buried the puck behind Mrazek.

Crunch looked deflated when the Griffins tied it up at two, but the power-play that lead to the Crunch GWG gave them new life and the Griffs suddenly looked tired.

Yes, I was at last nights game. The wife, a friend, and I had picked up tickets early in the week hoping to see the clinching game. Sadly we weren't able to boo Dave Andrews and see him hand the Calder Cup to yet another IHL team.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Oh, and the Nyquist, Andersson, Tatar line just wasn't fair. Completely destroyed the Crunch when they were on the ice. Just couldn't bury the wide open chances they had.

Just because your team is still playing doesn't necessarily mean you should automatically win an award...

Not that I disagree about Letang...

I'm not exactly up on my IHL - AHL history
