MTU @ UA_ - Wait... We Aren't North Enough Yet?

Haha. We figured you guys might appreciate that...

I'd like to see a replay of Blake's hit. Not sure it was a five, but his bullshi leaving the arena is moronic. A temper like like as a captain is unacceptable and an embarrassment.

Sad to on the tail end of the trip up here, getting ready to get on the train to anchorage now. We've all really enjoyed ourselves and what we've seen of the state.
Anyone who cheers for anchorage is no friend of mine, so yeah...haha

It was a bad hit from what I saw and it happened right in front of us. Dude threw Basara in to the wall while his back was turned. Glad you agree it was very poor of him to throw his stick like that. There were two kids standing over there and if it was a non holiday weekend that is where the pep band is at usually too.

If any of you Tech fans care or want it, I took a pic of your group when you were cheering so you'd have that as a memento. Nothing great really but thought I'd offer. Wasn't going to once I saw the UAA sign, but we all have our flaws. Anyways, if you want it let me know and I'll get it to you somehow cause I can't post it on here for some reason.

The internet is serious business, folks.
Im sorry, but I didn't take the time to read through this thread when I had some time to see a bunch of dick waving from all the UAA/UA_ fans when this is a thread about MTU & UA_. Enjoy fighting with each other to not have your season over when the regular season ends.

Re: MTU @ UA_ - Wait... We Aren't North Enough Yet?

I really enjoyed the UA series. The posts were some of the wittiest I've seen on USCHO Fan Forum. Many thanks to the Tech fans who were able to attend and represent the rest of us!

The UAA series was nice, too, except those weird Ponies get old REAL fast. Having both Alaska teams in the nWCHA really gives a lift to the conference. I don't even miss the North Dakota Nameless… :D

I don't miss any of those former teams ... but it is fun seeing the results in their new league. :)

What is this famous "UAA sign"? Is it better than the "You can't spell failure without UAF"?

It was one of those open and close signs that retract and you can pull apart to reveal the words...I don't know if uaa has them and the guys just got them from the anchorage series last weekend or if they took one of the UAF ones and turned the F in to an A. But that is the sign I was referring to.

Here's a pic for your memory book Husky fans :)

Re: MTU @ UA_ - Wait... We Aren't North Enough Yet?

Many thanks for the photo! That looks like the same flag Charles Bunnell was holding earlier… :)

I don't know if you heard about the origins of that flag. We found a copy of the 1975 National Championship game in St. Louis, MO where the Huskies won their last title against the Gophers. In that video there is footage of a Tech fan waving a flag similar to that. We did some work with freeze frames and guessing and came up with the flag proportions and a blueline club member was willing to make it for Mitch's Misfits.

That pic must have been after our first on Saturday right? I'm missing :) I was down talking to the media guy and security guard when we scored that one :)

I'll see if I can find the UAA sign. We were holding it up and chanting UAA whenever they would chant UAF. (Which was pretty much the only response to us chanting anything :) ) Would love to be up there with a full student section to banter with.

The whole group loved Alaska and there is talk of next time already.... Hopefully we get another back to back in the next few years in November. Weather couldn't have been better after the ice storm in Anchorage. I don't know if I could handle a Jan/Feb trip to Fairbanks, -26 was good enough for me :)

Those retractable signs were given out at UAA games a few years ago. Did Alaska Hockey send you north with some? Sounds like something he'd do!! :)

Haha, nope, but if he'd had some we'd have taken them :) These were UAF ones. Not sure if this works stealing it from Yager's facebook...

Priceless! You guys must have been a lot of fun. :) Next time I'll give ya one of the UAA retractable signs. Dang, sorry I didn't think about that this time.

Thanks for the backstory. My freshman year at Tech was the fall of 76 (wow, that sounds like a long time ago), so I just missed the glory years with Zuke and Lyle. I was present at the series with Minnesota which turned into a slugfest. It started in the first period on Friday when a Minnesota player lost his helmet and one of our players flipped it into the stands. My seats were low, right behind the glass so I saw the action up close. There were so many ejections that by the end of Saturday's game, Minnesota only had a backup goalie and two players on their bench. :D
