Positive to this season: we get a new feeling of frustration from not keeping a lead instead of the old frustration of not scoring goals!

I would like to say thank you to Spartan fans for the nice treatment. I sat next to two long time season ticket holders on sunday and they were very nice. Complimentary, and also rooted hard for the green guys. Everyone in the arena was polite and even the concessions lady had nice things to say. I hope we come back.
Also, I think the changes are positive though the loud rock music did get a bit old.

Glad to hear ou had a good time. There were more tech fans in Munn than I have ever seen from a visiting team...by far. Michigan doesn't even infiltrate nearly that much.

As for the games, I missed the first one, but for the most part, I was pleased with our performance on Sunday. I thought both teams looked pretty good and it was an entertaining game.

Tech got a couple dirty goals to tie it and we clearly collapsed mentally. We are so lucky that Tech didn't score in overtime because MSU was clearly knocked out. Obviously, this team needs to learn how to win the tight ones and hold leads. We have not done a ton of that over the last few years.

Ed Minney did a marvelous job taking over on Sunday.

Although the end left an awful taste in my mouth, and our record isn't terribly impressive, I feel good about our team. Defense and Hildebrand are big question marks, though. We have allowed a ton of goals the last few weeks. What a pity that as soon as the offense roars to life, our goals against does so as well.

Who would have predicted before the season that scoring 24 goals in the last 5 games would have resulted in a 2-2-1 record!? Not me.

I don't know if I'd rather watch MSU blow late 2 goal leads or just not score any goals at all... I will give credit to Michigan Tech for not giving up in either contest last weekend even when MSU seemed like the better team for long stretches both nights.

Also can anybody tell me if there was a reason (bus trip down maybe?) for Tech having A TON of fans there both nights? Like Pirateasaur said, I can't remember the last time there were that many opposing team fans at Munn, even when Michigan comes to town. I definitely think that those fans had a huge part in willing their team to comebacks both nights.

After watching Minney make mistake after mistake handling the puck (counted like 4-5) it was a miracle none of them resulted in goals. But those can probable be attributed to the fact he hasn't played in a game that matters until Sunday. I totally blame the coaches for this and after seeing his skill between the pipes, I cannot fathom why he hasn't seen at least a couple games here and there. Hildebrand is good, but he's no Ryan Miller or Jeff Lerg....

Besides a couple bad turnovers in our zone and some defensive breakdowns I thought the players played pretty well this weekend. In the 3rd on Sunday though the team seemed to go into defensive mode once again with a two goal lead, instead of going for the jugular that is a 3+ goal lead...

Big series this weekend on FRIDAY and SUNDAY (don't forget the weird weekend due to football Saturday). GO GREEN!

It was simply a chance to see the team close to the metro based alumni.. We had similar turnout in Ann Arbor last time at Yost as well.

I would definitely chalk up some of the plays on pucks that Minney had to lack of game-time experience. I don't at all disagree with the coach's decision after yet another bomb from beyond the circle got by Hildebrand. I am more discouraged by the let down in both games ... games that MSU should have found a way to put away given those third-period leads. Yet again, it shows what a relentless attitude in play can do - MTU had it and MSU didn't.

Gotta wonder however if playing 5 d-men on Sunday caught up with the Spartans. You could see how even the most experienced guys like Draeger and Walsh were having problems clearing the puck in the last 10 minutes. But with a 2-goal lead, you give up that first goal and you can feel the ice immediately start to tilt the other way. I don't know if Knudsen's hold-out on Sunday was a coach's decision based on his Saturday play or whether it was physical, but I'm sure it doesn't help the flow.

I heard the Knudsen scratch announced and immediately was concerned of an injury or something. Playing 5 drfensemen is awkward and causes inconsistent match ups or too much ice time for the first 2 pairs.

It will be very tough to take one from NoDak with 5 defenseman. Hopefully he was just a little banged up and held out as a precaution.

Well I can't say I was surprised by the outcome this weekend. Bad turnovers lead to 50% of the goals this weekend if those didn't happen the scores might have been closer both nights and MSU might have been able to steal one because honestly, MSU didn't play that bad otherwise. Each team had about equal grade A scoring chances but North Dakota was able to take advantage of them. Plus ND had a couple really great individual plays that resulted in goals, which you expect from a team with so much NHL talent...

Bondra skating in place of Stenglein was a head scratcher Sunday. I assume it was health related not performance related.

Sigh....About as you can imagine. I feel like a passenger on a ship that is sinking. And taking a long time to do so. Or a slow motion wreck, that I keep watching coming closer. And closer. and closer. And I'm trying to get out of the way but cannot. Can ANYONE tell me when this nightmare will end? After over forty years of MSU Hockey, I'm wondering if I should sever the cord. Even the dark days at the end of Amo's time were better then this. At least in retro-spec.

Its sad that hockey has seemingly reached the point of no return. I believe that Anastos will be on his way out this year unless he some how can right the ship (with about 3000 small holes in it) and get MSU in to the ncaa tournament. It is really astounding to me that a team with, at the very least, better then average talent is this bad.

And yes my usually positive attitude has run out.

Looks like Tommy Miller - a big defenseman who's committed for 2017 - is part of the last group that made this year's NTDP-U17 squad. He scored a goal over the weekend.

Another Non-Miller Miller has committed to MSU, C Matthew Miller from Victory Honda U18. That's pretty good for a 15-year-old, being on the U18 team. But at 6'2 it's easier to make the jump. He's "expected" to be here for 2018-19.

Well, the Badgers hung ten on um, at Yost last week-end. Not expecting much different this week-end at Munn.

Hung 10 in a loss and a shootout loss. They have a couple of nice wins, but they aren't setting the world on fire.

Hello Spartys. Somebody has to win tonight, am I rite?

The Badgers will be without 2 top six forwards tonight and one D due to injuries. Top line C, Cameron Hughes is out, and Freshman Seamus Malone will attempt to fill his skates. Second line C/W Adam Rockwood is out and will be replaced by essentially moving the old third line up and remaking the third. And Freshman Jake Bunz will see his first action as a Badger filling in for the injured Peter Tischke on D.

I think it would be sporting of Sparty to just sit a couple of top F's and a D as well. You know? Give everybody a chance to participate. I mean winning isn't everything...
