Re: MSU Spartan recruiting

The bigger surprise would have been Czarnik re-committing to Michigan State. An only slightly lesser surprise - he's now committed to Miami for 2011.

Re: MSU Spartan recruiting

I'm not going to say much else, as I'd rather not p*** off any other Spartans in this thread, but I will say this...

Comley needs to stay very diligent to make absolutely sure Boucher, Gunn and Sorenson don't jump elsewhere.

I'm furious - this ripped open old wounds like nothing other.

That is all.

Re: MSU Spartan recruiting

Didn't we chalk him up as a loss a long time ago? It is a bummer that he went for Miami but there probably aren't many players who wouldn't like to play for that program right now. If any of our current commitments bail, then i will be concerned.

Also, we have not had much luck in the past skating with "undersized" freshman.

Yes, but I'd rather have a big-name de-commitment jump to major junior franchise than a big-name de-commitment jumping to a conference opponent.

I apologize.

Berry and (especially) DeBlouw would also strike a serious blow if they ever "defected".

It's his life, his decision and his loss if he chooses to go elsewhere. I fail to understand what reason you would have to take this personally.

Re: MSU Spartan recruiting

It would add a nice bit of symmetry to someone we didn't get (whose dad was a big time player here and all-American). Now this one stuns his family and his dad's alma mater (UAA) because of what he saw here when he was 14. Would be something.

Re: MSU Spartan recruiting

So long J.T. Miller. I wonder what the post-Sioux symbol on your sweater will be.

Re: MSU Spartan recruiting

Some early season success for 2011/12's in the USHL:

Matt Berry has a 9 - 11- 20 line through 16 games for Muskegon. He's 2nd on the team in goals, points, and +/-. Leads the Lumberjacks with 3 GWG.
He's also 3rd in USHL in scoring, 4 behind the leader. One of just 3 players in the league with 3 GWG. Quite an impressive jump from AAA. ROY possibilities.

Reid Boucher has picked up where he left off last season for NTDP in terms of goal-scoring. He has a 7 - 2 - 9 through 8 games and a whopping .212 shooting percentage. Had a 1-2-3 line (3-point night) vs. Indiana in 5-2 win. He leads Team USA in goals.

Brent Darnell is 2 - 9 - 11 through 13 games for Sioux Falls. Good for 2nd in assists, 3rd in points, and tied for 1st in power play points.

David Johnstone has a 2 - 10 - 12 through 13 games for Indiana, while leading the team in assists and tied for 1st in PPP.
