Movies: Poor Things, Barbie and Oppenheimer are stuck in La La Land

Mookie stumbled onto a YouTube of “10 worst movies of 1972” or some sort and then started getting stuff on his feed of “10 biggest box office bombs of 197x” and “acclaimed films of 196x that failed” this and that….
Anywho while these come up and google is open, they almost all are streaming on tubi.

So this afternoon mookie watched Death Race 2000, followed by Switchblade Sisters.
Death Race 2000 is a huge "cult" hit.

You're sleeping on Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

It's the best political thriller of Robert Redford's career and he made a living off those in the 70s.
I can’t remember if it was screen rant or buzzfeed, but one of them had a group making videos that would just thrash marvel movies. The video for Winter Soldier started with a disclaimer where the narrator said something like “This movie is actually good, we had a hard time throwing this video together.” 😆

That movie is vastly overrated and is definitely not the best thriller of Redfords career. I want what you are smoking...

I have told this story a dozen times...but that movie was so predictable my girlfriend who had not watched a Marvel Film or read a comic predicted everything in that film and made me turn it off. The only reason we were watching it was she asked to because she had heard similar and wanted to catch up on Marvel before Infinity War.

Okay, I admit I need to see this one.

*Edit* Goddamn Bezos locking it up behind the MGM+ paywall. One step closer to setting up my own Plex server. 😠

Side note: Anyone done that before? How time consuming is the ripping process?
I have a Plex server...the setup is super easy. I havent ripped though just downloaded. (am right now actually) I would think ripping is easy if you have a drive. (my computer has no cd drive)

Why respond to a non-sincere take?
Sincere. You may not like it, but sincere.

I1 is the best of the batch, I think this is undeniable. I rank it as a genuinely good movie on every axis.

The original Cap'n and Panther are cromulent. The Spiderman verse animation one I really liked but I don't for a moment think it's good, I just enjoyed it for what it tried to do.

And after that? I can't think of any I would save from the flames if they offered an erg of heat. Most (Infinity War, Endgame) are godawful. A few, I guess, do no harm. But they are pablum.

These are today's equivalent to the Weissmuller Tarzan movies. Wildly popular in the moment, utterly forgettable within just one generation. Nobody will remember any of this except as another profoundly sad excess in the dying light of Imperium, like tech bros and Dump. At least Dark Knight will be studied as a guide to incipient fascism.

Exception: I think dark parodies like The Boys and Peacemaker will retain their freshness.

Is it real time or do you rip in seconds? I have no idea how this shit works.

Ripping will take a few minutes. At this point, it all depends upon the speed of your Blu-ray drive speed and your hard drive. Given that hard drives are solid state these days, it’s likely the Blu-ray drive that limits the rip speed.

Just built myself a new PC, and made sure to get a case that would accomodate an optical drive, as my old Windows 10 install is on dvd, and a bunch of my old games I would want to install are on cd.

Looking to add a blu-ray rewritable drive in the future, haven't done a lot of research as to what might be available. What would you recommend?

I would assume some of it also has to do with how big you want the file to be. Want one of those huge MKV files that are frankly a waste of space unless you have a 12th generation tv (not a thing) it probably takes hours...want just a nice 2-6 gig file I assume it takes considerably less. I havent done it in years though so I am unsure. Although I do have a lot of DVDs taking up space...

I will probably have to dig further into it, as I'd want quality of current 4K streaming, not compressed garbage like watching cable. .

Another side track, anyone remember when HD first came out and you could could blades of grass and see stitching on jerseys? And then cable became greedy and compressed the shit out of the feeds?
