First off, whoever said it's better than Downfall can kiss my arse. Not even close.
That being said, it was a decent movie, I suppose. Similar vein as Go (which was released a year later), where the story takes off from a certain point of time and goes different ways/follows different people.
The good:
The soundtrack was awesome.
Given when it was made, and this type of storytelling was rather new, it was done well.
The bad:
I half expected Dieter and the Sprockets crew to show up and dance. If an uninitiated person were to describe a standard German movie style, this would be it. It's as stereotypical as a German movie could be.
It's worth a watch I guess, but it might end up being a true test of willpower at times.

Really? I just saw the sequel with some serious lovers (I enjoyed PP but not as much as them) of the first one and they all thought it was pretty mediocre. Outside of the cameos there was almost nothing redeeming and all of the charm of the original was lacking. Not to mention they built up going to worlds and then rushed through it in like 5 seconds...
Seemed like a total paycheck movie for the writers and half the cast. But, as I said, the cameos rocked!

Pitch Perfect. The sequel was out this weekend. I love the first film. And now it appears I'll love the second when I see it.

Don't get me wrong. I liked Lola. However, I had to laugh at how "German" it was.

IMO, darn near a perfect sports movie. I am usually against reboots/remakes, but I think this one could be updated to fit current times quite easily (new issues like social media and concussions/etc being inserted), and still be this good.
And this may be an ignorant statement, but who the hell knew Mac Davis could act? Great job!

Speaking of "who knew they could act?", I just saw Queen Latifah's portrayal of Bessie Smith and she is a better actress than 99% of the alleged "professionals" in Hollywood. The movie itself, "Bessie," has an emotionally strong first 2 acts before becoming just another maudlin domestic drama in the final, but when it concentrates on the music and stage life it's outstanding. Also surprisingly talented: Mo'Nique as Ma Rainey. Wonderful movie if you want to learn about two mothers of the blues.

Pure thrill ride of a movie. does a lot of grunting, and the random shooting guns and flame throwers into the air, and they've got that ridiculous rock-stage concert chase vehicle going on as well. grabs ya by the balls and makes you wonder what crazy things they're going to do next kind of a movie.
