Good to hear. I heard it fell short of its potential, but I still want to see it.
Along the "potential" angle:
Life Of Crime
Guys kidnap trophy wife for ransom, get more than they bargained for. This could have been so much better than it was; really disjointed at times, and the ending really didn't make sense at all, logically. The acting was really good considering what they had to work with, pertaining to the direction/writing. Worth a peek, but don't go into it expecting a whole lot.

Glen Campbell "I'll Be Me" documentary.
Friggin' sad, yet amazing. Details his battle with Alzheimer's. CNN is showing it. It's pretty much all the feels. He shreds the guitar, but forgets where the bathroom is, that sort of thing. Amazing how the mind works.

Not quite the same kind of filmmakers, but for any of you who I know like Kurosawa, i'm sure you would like Yasujiro Ozu - the Japanese master of the family drama. I can't get enough of his films right now.

Kingsman: The Secret Service
REDONKULOUSLY fun movie. Holy buckets. I was kind of unsure of the expectation going in, and a comic book geek friend of mine said I'd enjoy it, given my tastes (I'm NOT a comic book guy). Total blast to watch. Grab a mongo bucket of popcorn, sit back, and enjoy this show.

Watched this just to complete the series. Had zero expectations going in, and the movie lived up to that. The first one was a great popcorn movie, the second one was saved by Rade (who I love as an actor), and this third one...not saying I want my 2 hours back, but it's not much better than watching grass grow.

What Happened, Miss Simone?
Documentary about Nina Simone, fascinating classically-trained pianist who became an iconic jazz/blues singer, then had a virtual second career as an outspoken figure in the civil rights movement. There has rarely been a performer who put so much of her honest self into her music. This is a well done documentary, very difficult to watch her downward spiral towards the end. There's a lot of excellent first person material from Simone and also her family. Not for the faint of heart. Solid A.

Terminator Genisys
I read a review that read, "go see Terminator Genisys and then immediately forget it," and I can't think of anything more clever or fitting. Middle C (a.k.a., a Harvard A minus). I'd add just two things which, while not spoilers, I'll put in spoiler code below:
1. I was disappointed that this movie didn't debut any new or interesting CGI technique. The best thing about the T series has been when it pioneers special effects that make your jaw drop. None here; this is all old hat.
2. Emilia Clarke was an amazing Sarah. She can act.

I know they did their best to be accurate, and if the guy was really like this, I apologize for the following: his character is portrayed a little too much GI Joe-ish...the "flaws" he had were basically glossed over/minimalized. I have a hard time believing someone who went through/did what he did wasn't more affected.
That being said, Cooper was amazing in the role, and it is a very good movie. I would consider it a recommended watch.

Jesse Ventura was even able to win a lawsuit over a lie Kyle told about him. (A lie that helped dramatically boost book sales) Kyle actually bragged that he was in New Orleans while it was flooded shooting 30 people, which didn't happen. The book the movie is based on supposedly had the proceeds going to a veteran's charity, while only 2% actually did.
Kyle was really kind of lying sociopath who stated he found what he did fun. Much of the movie was fabricated or embellished just for story purposes.

Dunno about the charity bit. And I know about the part where he didn't really kill a kid. And newsflash: to be a good sniper (or just a sniper) you HAVE to be part sociopath, IMO. You have to be able to separate that part of you from the non-military home-life part of you. There's a reason there are few good snipers. It's not because of just aiming and pulling the trigger.

The charity bit came out and was part of the trial from Ventura that they weren't actually giving any significant amount of the money to charity.
Newsflash, that doesn't change that he wasn't an honest one. It's a strange sort of hero worship he receives especially with how his own book paints him in an even worse light. Like an american version of this.

Which kind of brings me back to my point. Show his flaws, too. I semi-consciously was comparing this movie to Lone Survivor, which is NOT a pretty movie whatsoever. Character flaws and all. However, I felt more sympathy for those (LS) characters, BECAUSE they showed those flaws. These are ordinary men (at least, at the start) asked to do extraordinary things. That is what makes them heroes. And no hero is perfect.
