I've never seen Django, so I wouldn't have that for comparison. I've also don't have Netflix, so I can't comment on the Ridiculous 6 either.
As for Sandler, most of his movies lately have been really bad, but I liked Grownups 2, mostly because of Shaq's role.
Prior to that, it's probably been a solid 10 years since he's made a good comedy. I liked Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison, probably because his bit was still new and I was in college. Wedding Singer was decent, Anger Management was unexpected, and like you said, the couple drama roles he's had have been solid.
That part was obvious, hence my Brooks/Tarantino comparison. It just...well, it's Sandler behind it. That's the problem. And he DOES have 1-2 non-dumb-comedy movies that I do like. He's in it for the paycheck at this point. It's terrible.
