Motorsports 2026

It’s for the race in DC.
Yea... But Indycar is still heavily invested in the area around Indianapolis and where the largest chunk of their fanbase still is (per capita).

I'm sure it will sell well with their fans in Tennessee, Wisconsin, and throughout the South.

Just saw a The Race video where they report that F1/FIA is changing the 50/50 split to 60/40 in 2027. Adding 50kW in ICE power and reducing the EV output the same. Pretty expected reactions when you see the cars kind of stall out down long straights.

I'm glad they are making changes this quick (I understand why it can't happen this year). But for crying out loud, everyone warned them years ago this was going to the result of these rules. They didn't have to be in this position in the first place.

For some reason this official shirt for the Indycar race in DC this August was pulled.

Yikes IndyCar, yikes.

For those that don’t want to click the link: It’s a screenshot of merchandise for sale from the Freedom 250 race saying “One Nation, One Race.”

Wild how in the year of our internet connected everything that this shit still prevents people from satisfying their interest.

I get theres a bit of a spectacle around this year's Nurburgring 24 hour race, so much so that ticket sales were limited due to fan and participant safety, but being geolocked out of events in 2026 seems like such a backwards money grab.

Side note, I'm enjoying the whining Ford had in the last week after they realized Verstappen's team is racing a Mercedes. One of the brass for Ford Motorsports spouted off that he wished Max was racing their Mustang instead. But in the next breath and a little softer tone did admit that RedBull is the customer they're supplying the power train for in F1 only, and Max actually doesn't have a contract with Ford and Max's team negotiated their deal with Mercedes a year or two ago. Oh, and they wouldn't have even had a Mustang ready for him and his team if they wanted to.

Plus, he’s done a few publicity stunt YouTube vids with the GTD anyway. One of them with Chris Harris that was actually pretty fun.

The Racer Network bought the USA rights to this event a while ago, before the Verstappen effect.

Still sucks, because we are one of only four countries that cannot watch this race for free.

Heartbreak for the Verstappen team as right after Juncadella took over in the early morning hours, a rear axel issue caused the team to take the car to the garage for three hours. They decided to spend the time to repair the car and try to complete as much of the race as possible.

Live timing has them twenty one laps behind the class leader, their teammate car.

*edit* So their teammate car cruised to victory taking the checkered flag for the race. Juncadella got the final lap in to keep the car from DNF.

Holy fuck! He just won last weekend in the Truck Series!
The week prior he did ask for a doc to meet him at his RV after the Watkins Glen race because he was battling sinus/congestion that weekend. Sounds like whatever it was turned quick.

What sad news though.
