Audi announces that Jonathan Wheatley is departing "for personal reasons," and Mattia Binotto will take over as team principle.
Rumors are Newey's step back is to make room for Wheatley to be the new Aston Martin team principal. Some think this will allow Newey to focus on fixing the Honda motor vibration problem, and others have pointed out Newey and Wheatley's Red Bull time together.
And others have no love lost for Binotto and fully expect the wheels to fall off what they felt was steps in the right direction.

Was about to post this. They are very very strict with the rules at the Nurburgring. Heard he got DQ'd and figured it would've been for Code 60 violation, not tires.

Wasn't Wheatley the one who convinced Hulkenberg about the future of Audi which is why the Hulk signed there?

I'm not fully up to speed on the lore of the last few years, but Google searching shows Audi's Seidl signed Hulkenberg in April 2024 to drive for Kick Sauber in 2025. Wheatley wasn't signed until spring 2025

So Max kicked a journalist out of his media session because that journalist asked him about a crash at the end of last season. A crash that did cost him enough points to lose the championship.

Alonso made it to the end, so Aston has figured some things out as well. That or his hands have no feeling at all and the vibrations don’t bother him anymore.

Glad to see Checo on the lead lap (barely) even if it was helped with a safety car. For starting from scratch Cadillac seems to be going in the right direction. Just need to start finding where they're leaving speed on the table.

While Bearman's overtake wreck was most of the talk this weekend, along with the Porsche Carrera Cup wreck at the same track, over in Indycar Scott McLaughlin had a pretty nasty wreck himself where his car went through the barrier wall. And he made fun of it on his social media.

Watching a couple more replays, it appears the catch fence did not have a wall under it (or a very short one if any) and the wrapped foam blocks were just set against the fencing on the ground. Probably the gentlest way to crash.
One article I found said the car slid between the lowest reinforcement wire in the fence and the ground, allowing the car to slip under.
