MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

UND will struggle to make the tournament this year, although I think Hak is doing a good job with what he has to work with. Last night, the gophers played bigger and faster than UND and looked more like the team most of us saw early in the season. Blood has been a model of restraint this year, while logging freakish icetime, and I'm surprised his lost his composure last night. Losing happens. Losing badly happens. But you have to be able to deal with it, and it's disappointing to see a player lose composure, even if you know it's out of character.

There is not much question that UMinn has the better team at this point. It will be interesting to see if they will win games against top level competition when they have to fight for garbage goals and play tight D for 60 minutes.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

ben blood skated past budish, bjugstad, helgeson and all the other guys 5'9 and above.. then he grabs the 170 pounder. too bad for him someone his size was behind rau and tossed him around.

blood and the sioux are 20th in the pairwise. id be mad too..
The funny thing is Rau had nothing to do with the original exchange. At the end of the game, Blood and Ambroz started doing the "You suck! No you suck!" dance. After the linesman gets between the 2 of them, Jake Hanson comes up behind Blood and pitchforks him. I can't deny that was a pretty cowardly deed by Hansen but what are you gonna do? Rivalry game. Anyway, Blood got the wrong guy. I just found that funny. I don't know, maybe Rau said something about Blood's sister this time. Who knows?! :D

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Nice to see Blood show his true colors and pick the smallest guy on our team to go after in the handshake line... punk.

Blood didn't go after the wrong guy he did what all cowardly guys do. He picks a fight with the smallest guy on the other side. If the NCAA is serious about Sportsmanship they will hit Blood with a two game suspension.

There isn't any top level competition besides Duluth in this league this season. Yes, the WCHA is that weak.

We will be seeing average-to-above average opponents the next three weeks, though (CC, Jan, and DU).

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Watched a lot of the game last night and saw the ending. Looked to me like a UND player was running around at the end of the game, someone from MN gave Blood a love tap and then Blood pulled a real bush league move in the line as the video clearly shows above. Hope this rivalry continues in the future...

Hopefully the Gophers can make some hay then.

It almost seemed as if Blood got most pizzed off after the ref pushed him down, and I don't think he ever saw it was a ref. I am in no way justifying his response, it just seemed funny that he never saw who took him down. (Haven't seen replay, just way it looked as it happened.) Regardless, a guy should have to miss at least one game fro trying to pick a fight in the handshake line.

Probably was so embarrassed that the lineman shoved him to the ice and wouldn't let him get his revenge. So he waited to cheap shot the 5'9" - 170 player in the handshake. This rivalary has to take place at least one weekend every year.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Awwwww how nice it is... The Gophers leave the Ralph they way they Christened it - with a win over the abusive and hostile University of North Dakota

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

Ever notice how all the snappy repartee from certain nodak fans, like Dirty, disappears after their team gets their *****e$ handed to them? Not unusual among rival fans I suppose, but if you're going to run your mouth when things are going your way, you ought to have a little more self-respect than to hide out sulking when things don't go your way.

It would sure be nice. Hakstol has stated that he is leaving open room for a Minnesota series (he would like to do a 1 for 1, home and home each year). That puts the ball in Minnesota's court. FWIW, Hakstol already has a scheduling agreement with Wisconsin once the B1G/National begin. I'm not sure if that is for a home/home each year.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

I'd rather have a rotating two game series. Home one year, away the next. Home and homes blow.

UND according to 23 has a scheduling agreement with UW all set to start when the Big and NCHC starts, I doub UND would want a crazy lopsided schedule in comparison to the rest of their conference?

THAT's what you guys are whining about?

From the comments, I'd have thought that Blood shish-kabobbed Rau up the butt with his stick and tossed him into the student section.

I'm sure it was just out of the blue and that Rau was just saying nice game.

More typical than Blood picking on the little guy is the little guy knowing that he's got protection and popping off in a way that he'd never do if it was just him and Blood in an alley.

Look, nobody's gonna condone that, but why does every little thing like this have to become the end of class in hockey?

I'm sure YOU know the details of what happened right, and not being a typical "I hate everything MN whiney little bich from WI". If you were following the game or the incident (before opening your mouth for business), you'd know that Rau had nothing to do with Bloods classy antics..

But hey as long as it gives you a reason to rub one out have at it kid..

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

F*ing typical UND bullsh* during the handshake. He needs to be tossed for a game for that. If you wanna pull that crap during the game, fine. But the HANDSHAKE? Something that is meant to show your sportsmanship after a game/series? Gimme a break. Bush league team.

3-1 over the Whioux this year. I'll take it. :D

I would as well. Hakstol had said something to the effect that if the games are not in each team's buildings each year that the rivalry would lose some of its luster. I disagree. That being said, it sounded like Hakstol would be up for anything that was even.

It wouldn't really be all that lopsided. We would simply have an odd number of home and away games. One thought that could be possible would be to get a team like Duluth or Bemidji or SCSU in on this, and have quasi-traveling partners. For example, in October of 2013, North Dakota would play a Friday @ Wisconsin while Duluth played @ Minnesota. Saturday they would switch. In January of 2014, Minnesota would play a Friday @ North Dakota while Wisconsin played @ Duluth. Saturday they would switch. You could do it Friday/Sunday as well.

That being said, I don't like those options, and I agree with dxmnkd316 in that a two game series at one team's barn one year followed by a two game series at the other team's barn the following year would be better.

Of course, I still like the idea of having a holiday (thanksgiving) tournament at the X, with Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota, similar to the Beanpot or GLI. You could have a set 4th team (Duluth/SCSU/Bemidji all good possibilities) each year or you could invite a different 4th team each year (perhaps a rotation between Duluth/SCSU/Bemidji). I think you could maximize revenues that way, and still keep the rivalries going, with the bonus of competing for some sort of title. Plus this only takes up two non-conference games, and allows each school to still jam as many home games into their schedules. To me, this is a win for all sides involved.

Re: MN @ UND: tArrogance vs ___________

I think three things are working against these teams playing again. One is the goal to schedule in-state programs, two the administration forcing the program to limit road NC games and three Lucia is tired of playing against goons. :)
