The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Long way to go, but if it's the turning point then, well, yeah.
Am I right in vaguely remember the year of the fascist's bloody sock the Yankees blew them out the first three games and were handily winning game 4, and the Massholes flipped that game before winning out? I don't recall the year or I'd look it up. It was right around when the Pats were gifted the AFC title by the refs that first time.
Jesus if we only knew then we could have launched all our missiles the night before to see what happened.
I can't recall if the Yankees blew them out in games one and two but they won game three - at Fenway - 19-8. Game 4 was close, they were only down a run when Dave Roberts' steal started it all. I had tickets to game 3 when it was on Friday but it got rained out. And instead of giving me the chance to go on Saturday, for some reason they said I could use my ticket for game 5, which almost didn't happen. I flew to Las Vegas that Sunday and couldn't go. My brother and niece got to go, but had to leave because she was young and the game went 358 innings and she had school the next day so they missed the extra inning excitement.
Watching 100+ games for the last 15 or so years, this really means more than I thought it would. Happy the crew could do it and hope we can keep being successful. This was really a fun team to watch if you like baseball.
So I was doing fine, soaking up the post game celebrations on TV and social media, enjoying what I never expected to happen in my lifetime, until I came across the sign-off from the Brewers radio team.
The waterworks broke around the :40 mark, when the bombshell dropped.
The Brewers clinched their first title on Bob Uecker's (ex, but they reconciled) wife's birthday.
This team was meant to be and nothing was stopping them.
I also saw that Uecker was born on January 26, 1934, and this team never lost a game played on the 26th all season. Not even spring training. And they played every 26th from February through October.
My kid the Brewers fan since the 2006 frozen four was in Tampa for the heartbreaker loss and then last night for the championship. Who knew one game at miller field would turn him into a huge brewers fan. Crazy money for those two tickets.
Congratulations to all the Brewers fans here!!! What a season! Celebrate and enjoy it. Buy the hats and t-shirts. Do people still buy DVDs? If so, get the DVD they put out about the playoff. Watch it and relive it. I’ve been watching clips all morning and getting all the feels. Really happy for you all.
In case you were wondering, Guardians: 79 seasons (Last title in 1948)
Cleveland has had its chances during this time, but it lost World Series in 1954, ‘95, ‘97 and 2016 -- four of the club’s 12 postseason appearances since beating the Boston Braves in the 1948 Fall Classic. The franchise is 0-4 in potential championship clinchers over its past two trips to the Series, having squandered a 3-1 advantage in 2016 to a Cubs team that ended a rather notable drought of its own. It also has struggled with its back against the wall. The Guardians had an MLB-record streak of 11 straight elimination-game losses before beating the Tigers in Games 4 and 5 of the 2024 ALDS (Cleveland then lost to the Yankees in five games in the ALCS). Most recently, they took a 2-1 series lead over the Rays in the 2026 ALCS before losing three consecutive games to extend their drought.
