MLB 2026: The dying of the light

The Wilpons made net money off Madoff. That was the problem. They had to pay out on the clawback, and that hamstrung them. But that wasn't the Bonilla deal.

Fred and Jeffy were Peak LOLMets as well as Peak LOLRichMorons. They deserve infinite scorn and a 99% marginal tax rate. But Bonilla Day is not considered a mistake inside Mets World, it is considered media ignorance.
Bonilla also has a similar deal with the Orioles. Albeit for less money and a shorter timeframe. So also some element of just good long term planning and foresight by him and his agent. The Mets get mentioned more because of the length, amount, and the connection to the Madoff thing. Without the Madoff thing it probably doesn't get the press. Maybe a little due to length but not as much

I thought the whole crux of the Madoff connection was that the ownership was to have the money owed to Bonilla sitting in Madoff accounts earning 15% while the money owed to Bonilla would be paid out at like 8%. So the ownership would be able to pocket the difference...

Or am I connecting two unrelated events that coincidentally occurred here?

Tigers call up Eduardo Valencia hit a HR in his first ever MLB at bat last night. Then got HBP the next at bat, so he’s rocking it at BA, OBP, OPS and SLG right now.
