MLB 2025: The Dodgers vs The Field

Can someone ELI5 what's going on with MLB and ESPN? Haven't seen a good explanation.
Seems like a mutual breakup. ESPN keeps losing money from cord cutters, while rights for everything keep going up. They’ve gone all in on NFL, NBA, and CFB so there’s less money for other sports. They just don’t think it’s worth it to pay for MLB.

From MLB’s side, ESPN has given up on baseball so they don’t view them as a good partner anymore. Might be misremembering but at one point I’m pretty sure ESPN had Sunday Night Baseball, Monday Night Baseball and Wednesday Night Baseball. That’s been dropped to just SNB. They also took Baseball Tonight, probably their best non-hey day Sportscenter show, and went from an everyday show to rebranding it as the SNB pregame show for an hour a week.

World Baseball Classic qualifiers started this week in Taiwan. Nicaragua is the first of four qualifiers after going 3-0 in group play. Taiwan and Spain will play for the second slot out of the Taiwan group.

Next week, Brazil, China, Colombia and Germany will play in Arizona for the other two qualifying slots.

On behalf of Edwin Diaz, fuck the WBC with a skate blade sideways.

GEAR GRINDER:

I'm sure some of you saw THIS TREND last Fall.

Well it has now trickled down to the High School level. And it's gonna be a complete shit show of epic proportions to officiate this coming Spring. Coaches are already specifically asking about the legality of it (nothing wrong with doing it on it's face).

The problem is gonna occur when collisions start occurring (between the runner and the fielder with the ball on the bag or a fielder without the ball beyond the bag). In a bases loaded situation, teams are already looking like they will just send the runner from 1st base out into short left field as a distraction if they can be safe at 2nd. This will allow the runner who started the play on 2nd base to possibly sneak home as a confused F4/F6 stand at 2nd base with a ball and a runner in short left field...

Oh the possibilities are endless here. And everyone thinks they can execute it to their advantage... Golly gee! I can't wait for the arguments to begin!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

If anyone is being driven crazy by MLBTV on Chrome with a circle of Sisyphus, it came right up for me on Edge (Sucks, but not this time).
