MLB 2024: robot umps, please

With the Dodgers winning last night Yoshinobu Yamamoto became the first player to win a World Series, World Baseball Classic, and an Olympic Gold Medal. That makes him baseball’s first Triple Gold winner.

Unless MLB does an Olympic break for LA I’d imagine he’ll be the only one for a while, maybe ever. You’d have to be an amateur/minor leaguer to play in the Olympics, which is already going to be a sporadic tournament (tho LA and Australia will have it), then hit the calendar right with the WBC. On top of having to win the WS, which with expansion likely coming soon will be even more difficult.

Yeah, Yamamoto got really lucky. An almost perfect confluence of events in a three year period. Granted, Yamamoto really helped by being a **** good pitcher (he also won a Japan Series in 2022 with Orix).

Someone shared a YouTube link of the entire 5th inning and OMG. What a disaster!! How??? How does Cole not go to first to cover? Even if the first baseman was going to run towards it, you make the effort! And Judge's miscue of that easy fly ball??? How does a player of that skill take his eye off the ball? Volpe's throw to third I could kinda see because he didn't want to hit Hernandez, but still. That was Red Sox-level of defensive incompetence. I'm kind of impressed. That was an epic level disaster.

Jomboy's most painful breakdown...

That video is meticulous. "This is what Cole thinks is gonna happen; this is what Rizzo thinks is gonna happen." What a solid breakdown. I feel like I barely even watch baseball after I see him analyze.

He's honestly really good in his breakdowns. Some of them are a bit bro-like, but all of them provide some sort of insight.
He also often reaches out to the players/managers to just double-check that he's not making a random assumption on things.
