Are the players asking the league and mlbpa not to have universal DH? I mean, if everyone hates it they can negotiate to get rid of it. Now is the time.

It's Charlie Finley's middle finger to baseball. He correctly read that the stupid people outnumber smart people and it would be on balance popular. c.f. the shootout.

Little by little, everything of beauty is dumbed down. The Presidency gives way to Dump, the evening news gives way to Fox, baseball gives way to the DH. The common man is ferociously indignant with what he cannot understand and has to grind it into pablum.

True. At least the Yankees have a terrible logo and uniform.

But the Cardinals are the best team in National League, and thus actual baseball, history. They are annoying but they are right, like Democrats.

Players Union rejected the MLB Owners' latest offer. So, I guess no baseball in 2022. At least for April, possibly longer. Siiiigh.

Can somebody explain to me why the third one was important? Was it rich teams/players vs poor teams?

It's because players don't make money until they're arbitration eligible, but more and more teams just stock up on young, pre- arbitration talent.

This is a way to get them some extra money earlier since teams aren't shelling out for the 35 year-old slugger off the bench anymore.
