Re: MLB 2019: Every Year at Playoff Time, The Dodgers Find A Way to Choke.

Interesting game in the Dominican Summer League yesterday. The Yankees beat the Twins 38-2.

Trying to decide what is more interesting from the box score:

1. Despite scoring 38 runs, the Yankees left 13 men on base.
2. The Yankees had 51 men reach base safely (31 hits, 12 walks, 6 errors, 2 hit by pitch).
3. All 11 position players who got into the game for the Yankees had at least two hits.
4. Despite winning by 36, a Yankee pitcher still got a save!

That Gutierrez line is sweet: 1 1/3 IP, 3 Ks (guess he's got stuff), no walks (and control!).

Oh and 11 runs, 10 earned.

I love that the team that won isn't even that good.

All that in only 26 pitches, 21 for strikes.

Speaking of the Mets, that really nice 1969 Championship team tribute they did last weekend?

They erroneously listed two living players from that team as dead and memorialized them on the video board at the game.

This is a great opportunity to finally make things right with everyone from the 69 team.

I'm sure Fred and Jeffy will get right on that.

I don't know what's wrong with the franchise. We've always done sh-t like this, going back to M. Donald Grant. For whatever reason we have always had very little insulation between the employees and the sociopathic rich dou-chbags who own the team and the Quislings who manage it for them. But I suppose that's the story of every corporation in America -- I just don't root for WalMart or Amazon.

No, the Mets ARE truly special :)

Flyover Girls.

To be fair these two are in atypically good shape.

Watching The Natural.

When this gets remade, odds that it’s done with no colored folks? 0%?

Huh, NL right now has two really good teams, one really bad team, and then another 12 all kinda in the middle. Like, the Mets have the 14th best record but are still only 6.5 games out of the WC.

Max Kepler becomes the first player ever to hit a homerun in five consecutive at-bats against the same pitcher in one season.

I'll admit, that stat has a lot of qualifiers. What is actually impressive is that Trevor Bauer was the pitcher.

Only two others hit 5 consecutive against the same pitcher all time, if what I read was true....so still an impressive feat.

To my long-time Twins fan interlocutors dx et al: you're welcome in advance for the upcoming sweep of the Mets on Tuesday and Wednesday. To make things even easier for you we are starting our #3 and #4.

I direct your attention to Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso as two genuinely impressive points of interest on my team. Our LOLworthy attributes will become apparent in their own time.

As it is entirely possible one or both of these games will be no hitters and/or set the record for first MLB team to reach 40 runs in a game I recommend you set your DVRs.

Don't say I never gave you anything.
