MLB 2017: Playoffs, World Series, and Off-season.

I have the MLB package and I'm wondering which team(s) to closely follow. The Red Sox are blacked out and I don't have NESN so that's not an option. The Yankees are also a non-starter. The White Sox are also off the table.

I like Toronto because I appreciate Buck Martinez and his insight into the game. Also because he doesn't talk just for the sake of talking. The Braves are an option because I grew up watching them on TBS all the time so their team is familiar. The Padres have Don Orsillo. Any other broadcast teams people recommend? Or ones I should avoid? A good roster is a bonus, but an entertaining broadcast team can more than make up for that. I don't need a new team on the field, just ideas for who to pass a few hours with a couple times a week.

Get a VPN and blackouts are a thing of the past, except on devices that need your location to access MLB.TV.

Supposedly MLB.TV lets you buy single team access that overides blackouts when your team plays. Not sure how you buy it though.

JD Martinez to the Red Sox. 5 for $110, $50 of which comes in the first two seasons.

EDIT: JD has an opt-out after year 2.

I just found out my Generation 3 Apple TV has the ability to sync up the radio feed with the video feed for MLB.tv. :eek:

It's under Audio Options once you start watching the live video.

Is this the first year this has been possible? I knew you could do it with the computer, but it never used to be possible on the Apple TV.

Yup.

Thinner air means longer hits, plus Denver is on the dry side - dried-out balls bounce off the bat further and some pitchers have said they have trouble gripping them.

That's what I thought, but couldn't remember for sure; I knew about the "thin air" reasons, also the dried out ball factor. When I played fall softball, the difference was very noticeable here in MN, with the lack of humidity at that time of year.

Even if its just day 2 spring games.
