MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

First time since May 1999 that Yanks were shut out in back to back games too. Nice job by the Jays.

This reminded me of an unbelievable (to me) piece of trivia. About a month ago the Mets shut out SF and LA on back-to-back nights in California. ELIAS reported it was the first time a team had shut out the Giants and Dodgers back to back on the road since the 1920s!

That's pretty incredible, for sure.

Mets did it again. HBP to tie it and a seeing eye dribbler for two more. I sense a team of destiny.

I sense a team taking advantage of the worst division in baseball, and I am perfectly fine with that.

9 straight wins for the Jays; Bautista with his 27th homer of the season.

Red Sox go up 4 - 0. Bullpen does the usual. Lose 5-4 in 10 to the Marlins.

1/2 game back, baby.....thank you Indians! :D

Good article about the Jays wanting to win for CEO Paul Beeston, who was a Day 1 employee.

“He’s always fired up, he’s the eternal optimist,’’ Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos said. “He’s meant so much for the organization from Day 1, impacted so many people and employees here, and has so much respect by everyone in our country.’’

Huh.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, this was the first time since the dead-ball era that every single game was won by the home team.

This is for any night when all of the MLB teams were playing, obviously, as there have been plenty of Mondays or Thursday when a subset slate was swept.

The last time every MLB team was in action and every game was won by the home team was in 1914.

It still seems fishy, though. Like, wouldn't probability still say it would happen at least more than once every 100 years? Given that home teams already have slight advantage. I guess that's what makes it so cool though.

Assuming a 50/50 chance in each game, you'd have a 1/32768 chance of it happening with 15 games. Assuming full slates of games 5 days per week (not Mondays or Thursdays) for 27 weeks, that's about 135 chances per season, or 13500 chances over 100 years.

No-no by some dude out in Seattle. First for the AL in quite a while

I haven't really seen a very specific description of the stat. Does it mean when every team in the league was playing, that every home team won, or is this the first time that 15 have won it?

If the first, I do agree that is strange. If the second, part of that is it wasn't possible to get 15 home wins between 1916 when the Federal League folded (although there were doubleheaders that would theoretically make it possible) to 1998 when the Rays and Dbacks were added.

Shrug. West coast baseball holds about as much of my attention as preseason football.

I find it very interesting in how Japanese baseball deals with the MLB compared to other countries, so those players stand out to me, to see if they succeed, etc.

East coast ball is a different story. Make it ten in a row for the Jays! Eleven men to the plate in the second, the first nine reached safely.

The win moves them into first in the East, first time this late in the season since 1993. I seem to recall that was a pretty good season!. ;)

East coast is infinitely more interesting. But I still like Midwest baseball best.

You have the best tailgating. You have wide open area and easy access to the park. You often have teams that can't afford a murderer's row of players so you need to squeeze everything out if the players you have when you have them.
