MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

Pirates get Mike Morse for Jose Tabata.
Pirates get J.A. Happ.
Red Sox get Ryan Cook.

I'm still confused by the Jays. Unless the Yankees collapse they've essentially dumped their farm system for a chance at a one game playoff. Royals made it all the way to the Series through that route, but they also didn't deplete their assets in doing so.

And tonight they're playing the Royals at home and it looks empty (yeah I know it seats 50k, but still).

A 23 yr playoff drought means the WC is enough for now.

Mets doing what the Mets do. Not scoring enough runs for their starters.

Some of it makes sense like getting Tulo. Not sure how good of prospects they gave up for Price.

They gave up their best starting prospect, and another top-10 LHP in the organization. If they don't sign Price this winter, or cash one in here, the Jays made a mistake.

These guys suck. When did the socks become the strike zone?

Edit: Whoops, this isn't the Tigers thread.

ESPN/Grantland did a story on that this spring. The strike zone (and average pitch height) has been dropping over the past few years.

But this is downright silly tonight in Baltimore.

Red Sox have won two in a row!! Now comes the Troublesome Trio (Kelly, Mikey, Porcello) of starting pitchers.

True that Anthopoulos traded some good young pitchers, but it's the old story that you've got to give something to get something. I'll give you this from HOF writer Bob Elliot

One opposing scout had praise for Anthopoulos hiring additional scouts when he took over.

“What I’ve found is that concept of hiring all those extra scouts worked,” said an opposing scouting director.

“Daniel Norris was a popular guy, but Drew Hutchison, Noah Syndergaard and Justin Nicolino were not. The thoroughness and the (different) looks they got helped them acquire all those arms and (Jays coach) Dane Johnson got them ready for the majors.”

Is the Jays cupboard bare in the minors?

“They have to replenish their arms, but they made these trades and they still have four solid centre fielders in Dalton Pompey, Anthony Alford, D.J. Davis and Reggie Pruitt ... four pretty good prospects.”

And if it worked for the Royals, who says it can't happen again this year. With a bolstered pitching staff and the best offense in baseball it's entirely possible.

29,382 was the official attendance last night. The numbers are sure to grow.

A 23 yr playoff drought means the WC is enough for now.

NO.....the WS is enough for now! :D

Hey Kep

This Mets team and fans remind me of 1969.

A sell-out at the Dome on Sunday, and a hockey game broke out as the Jays took the 3rd of 4th from the Royals.

Loved what RA Dickey had to say after picking up the win:

“Taking three of four from a team like that, a really, really good baseball team, we all had a great time competing the last four days.

“I think they’re used to pushing people around,” said Dickey. “When they come on the playground and there’s a kid that is bigger than they are for a day, it probably pizzes them off. I can’t blame them because it’s a part of their swagger. It’s part of what makes them good. They compete hard. Zobrist, after that HBP, hit a home run and they’re back in the game. You just can’t ever take a moment off against a playoff-calibre team, and they are a playoff calibre team.”

Hey Kep

This Mets team and fans remind me of 1969.

This weekend was magic. There is a special connection between the team and the fans now. There were times this weekend when the fans willed the team over the hump. This is the first time the new stadium has felt that way.

My touchstone is 1973 -- the Ball on the Wall and that September run. This is starting to feel like that.

MLB Advanced Media to make an announcement tomorrow alongside the NHL. Rumor is that MLBAM is taking over NHL Gamecenter Live and other NHL streaming media productions (and potentially NHL Network).

The NHL internet package was perhaps one of the worst I've seen. Always seemed to be a year+ behind in development.
