Per AP, the Colorado Rockies have had 12 games delayed or postponed by rain, for a total of 14 hours and 29 minutes in rain delay.

And you wonder why I'm going mad on Facebook.

Greg Harris in 1995 pitching for the Expos. It was his last season and maybe even his last game in MLB.

IIRC, the game Bert Campaneris played all 9 positions he also pitched both left- and right-handed.

The woman who was hit by a broken bat at Fenway?

Her condition has been upgraded to fair.

Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

Mets just got no-hit by a guy I've never heard of. All three batters took called third strikes in the ninth. Golf clap for the Mets' lineup.

Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

This day in MLB history: Dock Ellis pitches a drug-addled no-hitter.

This is the one "historical challenge" I'd like to see in one of the MLB games. It would be neat to see how 2K would pull that off. MLB and Eleventy Billion Moms would probably throw a canary, but hey, any publicity is good publicity.

Apparently he was seeing opposing players as Richard Nixon, the catcher was invisible except for the glove, and he covered first on a grounder for the out and thought he scored a touchdown.

All he knew was what side of the plate the batter was on. It still didn't seem to matter. He threw the ball wherever it went. "Effectively wild" they call it.

Great documentary on Ellis:

He said flat-out that his team always knew he was high/drunk whenever he pitched, but it was a matter of what he was on, and how high/drunk he was.

Bud Black fired in San Diego.

A little surprising but I expected San Diego to be the team this season that gave the Dodgers a run for the Division and have a great shot at a Wild Card. Obviously with nearly 100 games to play anything can still happen.

The All-Star game is currently Royals vs NL, with Mike Trout being the lone non-Royal.

One, I don't care what kind of campaign they have, the Royals have a Royals sized fanbase, bots have gotta be involved somehow. Two, I hope it does end up being Royals vs NL, because that could start the process towards player voting for starters.

Actually, with home field for the World Series on the line its probably fair that the Royals get all of the position players. They are the ones it will most likely benefit.

Its also unlikely that bots are involved. If only 1 million people voted for Royals the max 35 times, each player would have 3.5 million votes. Now add in people from other parts of the country voting for some of those players and people using more than 1 email address to get around the max vote limit and you can see how easily they could get all their players in.

Just go back to one ballot per fan attending the games. There was nothing wrong with it.

No.

Let this happen. Let 10 Royals be voted on to the All Star Team. Let this be a complete fiasco. Let it happen for a couple years in a row. At some point maybe, just maybe, the wizards at MLB headquarters will get their heads out of their asses and return this thing back to what it used to be, not too long ago: an exhibition game. For (expensive) entertainment. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's like the salary cap argument. The only way to change it, is to break it. A team has to go full blown dynasty to change the rules. As long as teams like the Royals, etc get to the Series, the system won't change. If say, the NYY, rattle off 5 in a row, then the rumblings begin.
