MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

Saw an article that said pace of play is largely being ignored so far in ST, however that article was based on Cactus League play. At the Tigers game (Grapefruit) the innings were actually starting before the clock expired. The game still took 3+ hours, but that was more because of bad pitching than ignoring pace of play. I was sitting in the outfield but it looked like players were doing a good job of keeping a foot in the box.

Obviously that one game could be an outlier of other Grapefruit League games, but I'm hoping it's just a problem with the Cactus League so that these rules are actually enforced during the regular season.

No defensive plays for Will Ferrell in his first game today (SS Oak, 2B Sea). Was radio coverage only.

He hit the cutoff on a single to center (CF LAA), and was the 3rd base coach for the Cubs. He batted for the Cubs (K). Then played 1 out as 1B (FO). It's on MLB Network.

Next game is Reds v DBacks. Radio only.

From today's WaPo

Hillerich & Bradsby, which has been supplying bats for 131 years, will sell its Louisville Slugger brand to rival Wilson Sporting Goods for $70 million.

From today's WaPo

As well known as the brand is, they have fallen behind in the arms race that is modern bats... Easton (performance) and DiMarini (price point/bang for your buck) are much more popular than Louisville at both the kids and high school/college levels... In the wood bat market, brands like Marucci also take their share of the pie... They are 3rd by a long margin... It'll be interesting to see what happens now that Louisville and DiMarini become one...

Crazy blackout rules #1
All live San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics games will be blacked out in the U.S. territory of Guam.

Crazy blackout rules #1

So which Satellite/Cable provider is offering the games locally? The blackout rules are asinine. There is no reason for Guam, American Samoa, Hawaii, or Iowa to be blacked out with their distance from an MLB team.

I think even Anchorage is blacked out from Mariners games. Because there are so many Mariners fans in Anchorage that can just make a quick trip to Safeco field...
