MLB 2015-16: Grays Sports Almanac Edition

Re: MLB 2015-16: Grays Sports Almanac Edition

Once the NFL absorbed the AFL, do you think the eventual homogony of the NFL rulebook between the AFC and NFC created a disenfranchisement of the fans? ...
What was the difference between the AFL and NFL? Was it like Canadian football to American Football? One allowed the forward pass, and the other didn't?

From the Wikipedia page:
The NFL adopted some of the innovations introduced by the AFL immediately and a few others in the years following the merger. One was including the names on player jerseys. The older league also adopted the practice of using the stadium scoreboard clocks to keep track of the official game time, instead of just having a stopwatch used by the referee. The AFL played a 14-game schedule for its entire existence, starting in 1960. The NFL, which had played a 12-game schedule since 1947, changed to a 14-game schedule in 1961, a year after the American Football League instituted it. The AFL also introduced the two-point conversion to professional football thirty-four years before the NFL instituted it in 1994 (college football had adopted the two-point conversion in the late 1950s). All of these innovations pioneered by the AFL, including its more exciting style of play and colorful uniforms, have essentially made today's professional football more like the AFL than like the old-line NFL. The AFL's challenge to the NFL also laid the groundwork for the Super Bowl, which has become the standard for championship contests in the United States of America.

AFL was fun to watch. NFL was 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

I felt a great disturbance... As if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.

This is the only one that would surprise me. In fact I would be far less surprised if it were the exact reverse of this.

Mets and Giants are NL Wild Cards. Yankees and winner of Blue Jays-Mariners playoff are AL Wild Cards. Anything that doesn't include the Cards in the dance is ridiculous (as long as we ignore that the core is all old, we lost our best player to the freaking Cubs, and there are question marks everywhere).

Re: MLB 2015-16: Grays Sports Almanac Edition

The Nationals and Dodgers didn't get any better this offseason. So I don't see either of them winning their division.

I also don't see the Yankees finishing above 3rd, behind Boston and Toronto.

As mentioned the AL Central prediction is a total mess. I get Cleveland has pitching, and maybe they can win 84 games. But that isn't winning the division.

World Baseball Classic qualifying has started if you're itching for some baseball. Downside is it's in Australia so you'll probably need to set the DVR on MLB network. Aussies beat the Philippines and South Africa beat New Zealand.

Looks like it's the Aussie site in February, then two Latin America sites in March and one in the US in September. Each site has a mix of regions so it's not necessarily geographic.
