Haven't been to many baseball games, but one I do remember...caught a ball, and IIRC it was the same night that Nolan Ryan threw a no-no and Rickey Henderson broke the SB record (obviously, Twins were NOT playing their teams).

...And so it begins

$9 billion? Against one team? That's more than all of MLB's yearly revenue. Guess it makes it easier to settle for a lesser amount.

Been going to baseball games for 53 years. Still no ball. Closest was Dave Kingman (SF Giants) at Shea Stadium who popped a fly one row behind me. Next was at Yankee Stadium I when a foul bounced off one of the support girders and went one row in front of me.

Caught one in the front row of the mezzanine behind home plate in Shea back in the early 1980s. Reached out with my hat as a Phillie popped one up a mile behind the plate and it came right down into it as I leaned over the railing. Last year in Yankee Stadium the 1st base ball boy gave my son a ball towards the end of the game.

Tim Lincecum has his 2nd no-hitter. Both against the Padres.

Timmy is mad. Dumped twice with Gatorade and water and walked out of the interview.

Re: MLB 2014: I paid the $20 mil posting fee for the right to start this thread

Has anyone ever thrown a no hitter against the same team in less than a year?

Wow. So he's the first ever to do it in a one-year span. Impressive.

Not true, Johnny Vandermeer threw back to back no hitters in 1938 but not against the same team. I doubt anyone will ever do that again.

Top 5 teams that have been no hit? All from California, led by the Padres at 9 times. Thought that was pretty interesting.

And the Padres don't even have a no-hitter to their name.

The Cubs have gone the longest without getting no-hit. Sometime this season it will reach 49 years.

I don't agree with the removal of Native American "mascots" when their presented in a respectable way. The Sioux logo amd Chief Blackhawk for example.

But holy wah is Chief Wahoo the most racist mascot caricature a sports team uses. Change the red to black, add watermelon, and viola! A pickaninny cartoon character.

I think the redskins issue is more with the name and not the logo. I don't see this group targeting the Atlanta Braves since the Braves stopped using Chief Noc-a-Homa in the mid 80's.

tl;dr - Chief Wahoo racist. Blackhawks/Sioux logo, special interest groups can get bent.

Sure it is. I was referring to the same team.

Just growing up with the logo I've never really seen anything wrong with it, it just seemed like a cartoon of the Blackhawks and Redskins logo and I never looked at it as demeaning. But there's been some sites that have made Blacks/Jews/Chinese logos in caricature form and it really shows how racist it is. So I think the Wahoo needs to go, even though I do think it's a good logo.

However, I disagree with all the "I am not a mascot" arguments. If people can't be mascots, then I'm about to set up lawsuits with the Vikings, Notre Dame, Hope College, and a myriad of other colleges and high schools.

You can't make this stuff up. Jake Arietta's no hitter broken up in the 8th by Stephen Drew, currently hitting .143 and having struck out in six of his last ten AB's.

I think Arrieta also had a no-no going deep last week against the Reds.

Reason #309 why Joe Maddon is a great manager:
@Cut4: .@RaysJoeMaddon goes full "Jenny" with 8-6-7-5-3-0-9 batting order: http://atmlb.com/1pMDEl7
