Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

The snowmagheddon that we're supposed to get was kind enough to hold off until the post game bar gathering after the varsity game was over.

I'm liking my son's high school program's parents. They believe in patronizing our sponsors of which many are apparently local bars.

Sconni ya know! ;)

This is fun! :)

The ice is getting really bad where I am. State of emergency in most of the county I live in and in St. Lawrence. Really dreading my ride home from work.

Old man just told me that it doesn't seem too horrible for icing in Massena. Nothing showing on the power lines, doesn't know about road conditions though.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

So much for my plan of leaving the Huskies outside. They MacGyver'd their way out. Spent the last two hours tracking them down.

Completely unrelated, a new show about a bunch of drunk people finding dogs should be made.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

I'm getting tired of the weather pattern where we get an inch or two of snow every couple of days. I just get the pond rink and driveway cleared and it snows again. Just drop a half foot once a week, please.

I used to have a backyard rink and what drove me nuts were the frequent quarter to eighth inch dustings. Didn't need to shovel the driveway for such a small amount, but couldn't leave it on the rink or it'd wreck the surface.

I kept really nice ice. ;)

Snow is adding up in West Michigan...

There is a layer of ice over the previous snowpack which is now coverd in snow. Makes it tough for the dogs to run around but it is fun trudging through it.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Its no surprise that Minnesota has been colder (in fact much colder) than usual. However in January, the upper Midwest is not just expected to moderate...but actually end up being significantly warmer than average.

My Christmas present for the thread.

If that forecast ends up being accurate, with the wamer/colder line staying put, Duluth is going to get pummelled with snow this January - even moreso than usual.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

parent-in-laws place is been hit by a lake effect snow band since about 2 this afternoon. We've had about 16 inches of snow (probably more). Gonna try to measure it tomorrow.

I'd rather have these real cold temperatures. At least I can get somewhere if I have to.

Meh. I drove throughout the Halloween Storm, in a Corsica no less. I'm alright with my Jeep. Now, will I get there as quickly? No, but I'll still get there. :)

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

So much fun. Lots of shoveling and roof raking which keeps us busy and exercised during this usually dull time.

One good way for your father in law to find you useful. being a beast of burden. :D

Forecasted high temp for December 28: 35
Forecasted high temp for December 29: -2.

I'm not amused. It's not so much the below-zero temps that get me - it's winter in MN - it's the drastic change in temps that kill me. A big swing like that may as well be a kick to the sac when stepping the house outside Sunday morning.

Heard at work that in December, the Twin Cities has had 18 days that it was snowing, even a little. The rest of the days? Below zero. Yep, welcome to MN.

Great. Just great. I get to go back to Minnesota on Sunday to this. At least I will have somewhat of a transition of dropping temps while driving back.

Funny, the people here in Milwaukee are complaining about it going to be 10 degrees above 0 this week. I tell them what I am going back to and they look at me like I am insane. Which I am.

A glorious 45°F in Brooklyn Park. Forecasted low tonight of -15. Yeah, I'm spending the day outside.

Took a random drive with the windows down, and got myself a Wendy's Frosty for the jaunt. Loved every minute of it. It's gorgeous out. Even have the patio door wide open. :)
