Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

So, I'm sitting here getting my gear ready for my annual assault of the Salmon of Lake Michigan... I'm looking at temps possibly getting down into the low 40's overnight ... Not complaining, but I am surprised at how early I will be busting out the insulated bibs... Normally it's well after Labor Day before I'm forced to bust out the bibs... And usually this is after freezing my *** off in just a hoodie on a 50*F night because I am in denial of it actually getting cool out...

Are you going out in Illinois? We used to put in at Two Rivers, but that was usually in June or July. We'd camp the night before and drink too much by the campfire for that predawn start to be much fun. Once we were on the water, though, it was great. Bringing those fillets home was nice too.

I don't really fish IL waters that much if possible... I'm shorebound, so my chasing usually consists of overnight trips off of the piers... Usually I'll go to Racine or Milwaukee if I have the time... Waukegan (IL) can be decent, but the Chicago harbors are useless unless you have a boat...

Been there/done that with the late night/early morning scenario... Good times... It's amazing how easily a screaming drag will instantly cure a hangover :p

I think I'd rather do it from shore. On the boat, all you do is stand around and grab a pole when there's a hit. Not much fishing. A good time, but not much fishing to it.

I wouldn't trade chasing Kings from shore for anything... There is nothing better in the fishing world, IMO... Just having a 20+lb. King peel drag right after it takes your spoon or crank is like nothing else... Yea, you gotta be somewhat dedicated (insane is a better term for most people), but that is where the appeal comes in...

Next co-worker that goes out the front door will be punched by me. We cannot keep our area cool, because ignorant people do not understand that this is our work area. Then they come in asking why is it so hot in here. Because you opened the dam door!

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Don't get me wrong, it's hot here. Lower 90's for sure, but it's quite pleasant down by the shore or in the pool. :)

Especially with a frozen rum drink to enjoy. :D

Definitely warmer today as the breeze is coming from inland. It's in the 90s even by the shore which makes the rum drinks melt faster. It's a bit of a chore staying on top of them, but we're managing. :D

Back home tomorrow where we'll probably have to huddle by the pool to stay comfortable.
