Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

I left the office at 1:30 today and got home at 3:45. The train was normal, as I took the LRT down to the MOA. From there I caught the bus down to the AV park and ride. The bus ride took a while as the driver just couldn't get any traction when a light turned green. And since all of the weight on those things is in the rear, the front wheels didn't catch well for turning. That didn't stop the guy from driving like a maniac while on the highway. I came across a three-car crash in Apple Valley, looked like it happened a just a couple minutes before I drove by.
It only took me 40 minutes to get home at 3:30 from Plymouth, taking a route that should be about 20-25.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Took me same amount of time getting home tonight, but the roads are dead. It's like a ghost town out there. So, I decided to make my own lanes on some of the side roads. :D

Yeah, everytime I hear about this budget surplus I think, give it to the road commissions. They need it and we'll all benefit from it.

The pot holes are awful. Traffic last night was slow just because people were trying to negotiate potholes on Packard. Now that it's warmer and snow is melting, it's only going to get worse.
Yeah, Packard I could see it having some tire-eaters by about now. There's also a stretch of carpenter just north of Packard that's gotta be pretty bad as well.

Thundersnow this morning in MI.

Now the roads are coated in slush. A friend described it as "driving on Jello"
Yeah, about what it was like right after the snow had switched over to rain today when I was heading into work. just slick enough that I really didn't want to pull out on US-12 to pass the idiot who thought that they couldn't even do 20 in that slop. luckily, that one had the good sense to at least pull off to the side to let people pass him.

Now lets hope that the wind storm tonight doesn't knock out power here. Not like I don't have a generator, but its still a pain in the *** that I would rather not deal with as its set up to only run the important stuff in the house, not stuff like the light in the bathroom.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Weird effing snow drifts out there after that snowfall. The front porch to my house, which is completely covered, has a three-foot drift that's only about a foot deep. Then my garage is completely cutoff from the driveway by a huge drift. I'm waiting for the plow service and calling in for a day of PTO. I've never had to do that before due to snow.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

I was up at 5 to plow the driveway so the fiance could get on her way to work early.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

I've had to plow 3 times this week already and its snowing again this morning. Quite the winter, next weeks temps below 0 at night once again

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

This storm was interesting... There were points in Iowa that were under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings while still under Winter Weather Advisories/Warnings yesterday

I think it may be Momma Nature's time of the month :p

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

All the roads were plowed around us... even the side streets. If that's the case, why was school still cancelled? Sure looks like traffic could get around okay. My route wasn't that slippery so I can't imagine how much worse it would be.

That and it REALLY sucks getting woken up by a robo call from the school district telling you school is cancelled. I've still got another hour or two to sleep, so leave me alone! :p

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Jr's school started with a 2 hour delay then switched to closed as the roads were still not improving. I'm planning to head to the office quite late and waiting for the roads to clear a little more.

Mine came at 5:11am. Good times!

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

How much snow pack do you guys have? Reason I'm asking is the snow melt has to somewhere -- like the Mississippi.

Should down river be concerned this spring?

The news last night said that we have 20" here in the Twin Cities. The normal amount of snow depth at this time of year is 7".

I am skeptical of that....I went out in the woods behind the house on Sunday, and sunk in snow almost to the waist, and I'm pretty **** tall. I'd say I have closer to 3 feet than 2 feet in my yard.

It is 30 degrees warmer here, out east, than it was at home!!! You guys have it nice out here! I didn't even put my gloves/insulated pants/hat/inulated boots on today when we were working outside!

20 looks about right for here...
