Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

MnDot needs to learn to clear the ****ing roads. You know how fun it was driving to Lakeville 6 hours after the snow stopped.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

It snowed like an inch, maybe two...what are you, a southerner?:p

The roads were pretty bad yesterday in the early afternoon. Lots of slick spots, because the snow was more mush than snow. I saw quite a few cars in the ditch, and saw a few others make some nice saves after sliding a little. Didn't see any idiot drivers, either, which was surprising.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

When I look out the kitchen window to the picnic table on the patio, I see an "archaelology" of the past month's snow: there are visible layers on the table. Apparently, after each snowfall, the sun would melt the top of the most recent layer and it would then freeze, so that each layer is clearly separated. It's looks pretty cool: a 5" layer on the bottom, 3" on top of that, 8" on top of that, 2" on top of that, 6" on top of that, then about 1-1/2 inches on top of the whole thing. sort of a funky tiered wedding cake look to it.

Duluth went sub-zero last night, again. That's the 60th time this winter, setting a new record.

It seems we've had more sub zero days this winter than the last 3 combined. Tonight its supposed to be below the donut

They cut the budget. Plows and plow drivers salaries (especially overtime) were one of the first things to go. We're lucky the get the roads cleared after 24 hours.

Which is BS given that we have that state constitutional amendment to dedicate all that money to the the transportation fund, moving the gas taxes out of the general fund.

Oh, that's right, it also tossed all that gas tax money into mass transit, because users of mass transit are clearly paying a lot into that fund.

I totally agree. But, as always dedicated funding isn't dedicated funding. They're all crooks.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

I've had enough of this ****ing snow shoveling 4 ****ing times a week, dammit.

The weather reporter on TV said that we have had more than three times an average snowfall so far this winter. 20 different snowfall events that left snow on the ground. That works out to two per week every single week so far, and since there were some snow-free weeks in December, probably even more frequently when it did snow.

After shoveling yesterday's snowfall, the snow alongside the driveway is now piled chest high for me, shoulder-high for the missus. In a typical winter, we'll have a few days above freezing now and then so that whatever had accumulated can melt; that hasn't happened in the past several weeks however.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Something strange is happening... All that white stuff on the ground is turning into a liquid

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Next round of snownami coming in tomorrow. I heard 6-9 inches.

Meanwhile, in the UP: http://www.johndee.com/webcam/twinlakes.jpg

about 15 years ago or so, we went to Yellowstone during the winter, to spend several days in the lodge, as part of a cross-country ski vacation. On the ride in, the snow coach operator stopped and pushed a rod through the snow....over 12 feet deep. There is a place in the park where they typicaly get 80 feet to 90 feet of snow.

Lying weather people. They told me 39 and sunny today. I left my Winter coat at home. Why is it snowing?

Because the photo from bigblue showed only about 4' in the UP so far. Michigan clearly needs more snow.

In other news, I cleared my calendar for tomorrow so that I can take a snow day. I'm just sick of fighting the traffic and poorly cleared roads this winter and don't want face a ridiculous commute tomorrow.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Silly Marylander!!! You believe the weatherman? HAHAHAHA!!!

You having about as much fun as what I have dodging pot holes lately? Lots of roads around here are getting pretty **** chewed up. I sure hope the State of Michigan gets smart and puts most of that budget surplus they have and dump it into the roads, because they're going to be terrible this year, especially when we all melt out here.

I thought about it, but then I remembered that I have a 7 mile, 10 minute commute with multiple routes to avoid any serious traffic. And a Wrangler. :D
